He said to them,“ How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken!Wasn’t it necessary for the Messiah to suffer these things and enter into his glory?”Then beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted for them the things concerning himself in all the Scriptures.

LORD, God of my salvation, I cry out before you day and night.May my prayer reach your presence; listen to my cry.For I have had enough troubles, and my life is near Sheol.I am counted among those going down to the Pit. I am like a man without strength,abandoned among the dead. I am like the slain lying in the grave, whom you no longer remember, and who are cut off from your care.You have put me in the lowest part of the Pit, in the darkest places, in the depths.Your wrath weighs heavily on me; you have overwhelmed me with all your waves. LORD, I cry out to you all day long; I spread out my hands to you.Do you work wonders for the dead? Do departed spirits rise up to praise you? SelahWill your faithful love be declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Abaddon?Will your wonders be known in the darkness or your righteousness in the land of oblivion?But I call to you for help, LORD; in the morning my prayer meets you.LORD, why do you reject me? Why do you hide your face from me?From my youth, I have been suffering and near death. I continued watching in the night visions, and suddenly one like a son of man was coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was escorted before him.He was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, so that those of every people, nation, and language should serve him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will not be destroyed.

Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke about him.

Sword, awake against my shepherd, against the man who is my associate— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies. Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones.

For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring you to God. He was put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,in which he also went and made proclamation to the spirits in prison

Though I did not steal, I must repay.God, you know my foolishness, and my guilty acts are not hidden from you.Do not let those who put their hope in you be disgraced because of me, Lord GOD of Armies; do not let those who seek you be humiliated because of me, God of Israel.For I have endured insults because of you, and shame has covered my face.I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sonsbecause zeal for your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult you have fallen on me.I mourned and fasted, but it brought me insults.I wore sackcloth as my clothing, and I was a joke to them.Those who sit at the city gate talk about me, and drunkards make up songs about me.But as for me, LORD, my prayer to you is for a time of favor. In your abundant, faithful love, God, answer me with your sure salvation.Rescue me from the miry mud; don’t let me sink. Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep water.Don’t let the floodwaters sweep over me or the deep swallow me up; don’t let the Pit close its mouth over me.Answer me, LORD, for your faithful love is good. In keeping with your abundant compassion, turn to me.Don’t hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me quickly!Come near to me and redeem me; ransom me because of my enemies.You know the insults I endure— my shame and disgrace. You are aware of all my adversaries.Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I waited for sympathy, but there was none; for comforters, but found no one.Instead, they gave me gall for my food, and for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

he says,“ It is not enough for you to be my servant raising up the tribes of Jacob and restoring the protected ones of Israel. I will also make you a light for the nations, to be my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

For a child will be born for us, a son will be given to us, and the government will be on his shoulders. He will be named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.The dominion will be vast, and its prosperity will never end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now on and forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will accomplish this.

As you were watching, a stone broke off without a hand touching it, struck the statue on its feet of iron and fired clay, and crushed them.Then the iron, the fired clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold were shattered and became like chaff from the summer threshing floors. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.

To this very day, I have had help from God, and I stand and testify to both small and great, saying nothing other than what the prophets and Moses said would take place—that the Messiah would suffer, and that, as the first to rise from the dead, he would proclaim light to our people and to the Gentiles.”

Then I fell at his feet to worship him, but he said to me,“ Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and your brothers and sisters who hold firmly to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, because the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”The LORD will extend your mighty scepter from Zion. Rule over your surrounding enemies.Your people will volunteer on your day of battle. In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn, the dew of your youth belongs to you.The LORD has sworn an oath and will not take it back:“ You are a priest forever according to the pattern of Melchizedek.”The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his anger.He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses; he will crush leaders over the entire world.

“ In the days of those kings, the God of the heavens will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and this kingdom will not be left to another people. It will crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, but will itself endure forever.

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been better for him if he had not been born.”
