Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken.Utterly amazed, they asked:“ Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome( both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs— we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” (niv)

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. (niv)

Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, (niv)

and not only for that nation but also for the scattered children of God, to bring them together and make them one. (niv)

Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods— gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your ancestors have known. (niv)

Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. (niv)

“ If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. (niv)

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. (niv)

The Lord will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the Lord will drive you. (niv)

“‘ But I will spare some, for some of you will escape the sword when you are scattered among the lands and nations. (niv)

There he met a Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to see them, (niv)

As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. (niv)

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him,“ We have found the Messiah”( that is, the Christ).And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said,“ You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas”( which, when translated, is Peter). (niv)
