此室雖高、凡過之者、必駭異而嗤笑曰、耶和華曷如是待此地此室乎、

凡過此有名之殿宇、必駭異、作怨憤之聲。如有詢及者曰、耶和華毀此殿、害此國也、曷故。

此殿今雖崇高、凡過之者、必驚訝歎息歎息或作作嗤笑之聲曰、主如是行於斯地與斯殿何故、

This temple will become a heap of rubble. All who pass by will be appalled and will scoff and say,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and to this temple?’

This temple will become a pile of stones. All those who pass by it will be shocked. They will make fun of it. And they will say,‘ Why has the Lord done a thing like this to this land and temple?’

And this house will become a heap of ruins. Everyone passing by it will be astonished and will hiss, and they will say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’

And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled and will gasp in horror. They will ask,‘ Why did the Lord do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?’

Though this temple is now exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will scoff. They will say,“ Why did the LORD do this to this land and this temple?”

And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone who passes by it will be appalled and hiss and say,‘ Why has the Lord done such a thing to this land and this house?’

And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss, and say,‘ Why has the Lord done thus to this land and to this house?’

And though this house is so high, yet shall every one that passeth by it be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Jehovah done thus unto this land, and to this house?

“ Many nations will pass by this city and ask one another,‘ Why did the Lord do such a thing to this great city?’They will answer,‘ Because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh their God and worshiped and served other gods.’”

All the nations will ask,‘ Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?’Then people will answer,‘ It is because they abandoned the covenant of Yahweh, the God of their fathers, which He had made with them when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.They began to worship other gods, bowing down to gods they had not known— gods that the Lord had not permitted them to worship.

As for this temple, which was exalted, everyone who passes by will be appalled and will say: Why did the Lord do this to this land and this temple?

Is this man Coniah a despised, shattered pot, a jar no one wants? Why are he and his descendants hurled out and cast into a land they have not known?

Our holy and beautiful temple, where our fathers praised You, has been burned with fire, and all that was dear to us lies in ruins.

He has carried out His words that He spoke against us and against our rulers by bringing on us so great a disaster that nothing like what has been done to Jerusalem has ever been done under all of heaven.

“ Edom will become a desolation. Everyone who passes by her will be horrified and scoff because of all her wounds.

Because of the Lord’s wrath, she will not be inhabited; she will become a desolation, every bit of her. Everyone who passes through Babylon will be horrified and scoff because of all her wounds.

I will make this city desolate, an object of scorn. Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and scoff because of all its wounds.
