On the altar of the Lord that he had built in front of the portico, Solomon sacrificed burnt offerings to the Lord,according to the daily requirement for offerings commanded by Moses for the Sabbaths, the New Moons and the three annual festivals— the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Tabernacles.

Three times a year all your men must appear before the Lord your God at the place he will choose: at the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks and the Festival of Tabernacles. No one should appear before the Lord empty-handed:

“ Three times a year you are to celebrate a festival to me.“ Celebrate the Festival of Unleavened Bread; for seven days eat bread made without yeast, as I commanded you. Do this at the appointed time in the month of Aviv, for in that month you came out of Egypt.“ No one is to appear before me empty-handed.“ Celebrate the Festival of Harvest with the firstfruits of the crops you sow in your field.“ Celebrate the Festival of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you gather in your crops from the field.“ Three times a year all the men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord.

All Solomon’s work was carried out, from the day the foundation of the temple of the Lord was laid until its completion. So the temple of the Lord was finished.

“ Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps.

Because they have forsaken me and burned incense to other gods and aroused my anger by all that their hands have made, my anger will be poured out on this place and will not be quenched.’

Three times a year all your men are to appear before the Sovereign Lord, the God of Israel.

My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense.”

In the eleventh year in the month of Bul, the eighth month, the temple was finished in all its details according to its specifications. He had spent seven years building it.

But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.Azariah the priest with eighty other courageous priests of the Lord followed him in.They confronted King Uzziah and said,“ It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the Lord God.”Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the Lord’s temple, leprosy broke out on his forehead.When Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests looked at him, they saw that he had leprosy on his forehead, so they hurried him out. Indeed, he himself was eager to leave, because the Lord had afflicted him.King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house— leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the Lord, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.
