When Solomon had finished building the temple of the Lord and the royal palace, and had achieved all he had desired to do,

所羅門造成了耶和華殿和王宮；在耶和華殿和王宮凡他心中所要做的，都順順利利地做成了。夜間耶和華向所羅門顯現，對他說：「我已聽了你的禱告，也選擇這地方作為祭祀我的殿宇。我若使天閉塞不下雨，或使蝗蟲吃這地的出產，或使瘟疫流行在我民中，這稱為我名下的子民，若是自卑、禱告，尋求我的面，轉離他們的惡行，我必從天上垂聽，赦免他們的罪，醫治他們的地。我必睜眼看、側耳聽在此處所獻的禱告。現在我已選擇這殿，分別為聖，使我的名永在其中，我的眼、我的心也必常在那裏。你若在我面前效法你父大衛所行的，遵行我一切所吩咐你的，謹守我的律例典章，我就必堅固你的國位，正如我與你父大衛所立的約，說：『你的子孫必不斷人作以色列的王。』「倘若你們轉去丟棄我指示你們的律例誡命，去事奉敬拜別神，我就必將以色列人從我賜給他們的地上拔出根來，並且我為己名所分別為聖的殿也必捨棄不顧，使他在萬民中作笑談，被譏誚。這殿雖然甚高，將來經過的人必驚訝說：『耶和華為何向這地和這殿如此行呢？』人必回答說：『是因此地的人離棄耶和華－他們列祖的神，就是領他們出埃及地的神，去親近別神，敬拜事奉他，所以耶和華使這一切災禍臨到他們。』」所羅門建造耶和華殿和王宮，二十年才完畢了。以後所羅門重新修築希蘭送給他的那些城邑，使以色列人住在那裏。所羅門往哈馬瑣巴去，攻取了那地方。所羅門建造曠野裏的達莫，又建造哈馬所有的積貨城，又建造上伯‧和崙、下伯‧和崙作為保障，都有牆，有門，有閂；又建造巴拉和所有的積貨城，並屯車輛馬兵的城，與耶路撒冷、黎巴嫩，以及自己治理的全國中所願意建造的。

泰爾王希蘭曾照所羅門所要的，資助他香柏木、松木，和金子；所羅門王就把加利利地的二十座城給了希蘭。

我為自己動大工程，建造房屋，栽種葡萄園，

所羅門在位第四年西弗月，立了耶和華殿的根基。到十一年布勒月，就是八月，殿和一切屬殿的都按着樣式造成。他建殿的工夫共有七年。所羅門為自己建造宮室，十三年方才造成；

凡我眼所求的，我沒有留下不給它的；我心所樂的，我沒有禁止不享受的；因我的心為我一切所勞碌的快樂，這就是我從勞碌中所得的分。

眼睛所看的比心裏妄想的倒好。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

所羅門王做完了耶和華殿的一切工，就把他父大衛分別為聖的金銀和器皿都帶來放在耶和華殿的府庫裏。
