爾民犯罪於爾、爾其赦宥、使虜之者施其矜憫、

赦主之民在主前所犯之罪愆、使擄之者、向之施矜憐、

And forgive your people, who have sinned against you; forgive all the offenses they have committed against you, and cause their captors to show them mercy;

Your people have sinned against you. Please forgive them. Forgive them for all the wrong things they’ve done against you. And make those who won the battle over them show mercy to them.

He even caused their captors to treat them with kindness.

“ For if you return to the Lord, your relatives and your children will be treated mercifully by their captors, and they will be able to return to this land. For the Lord your God is gracious and merciful. If you return to him, he will not continue to turn his face from you.”

and rescued him from all his troubles. And God gave him favor before Pharaoh, king of Egypt. God also gave Joseph unusual wisdom, so that Pharaoh appointed him governor over all of Egypt and put him in charge of the palace.

This Ezra was a scribe who was well versed in the Law of Moses, which the Lord, the God of Israel, had given to the people of Israel. He came up to Jerusalem from Babylon, and the king gave him everything he asked for, because the gracious hand of the Lord his God was on him.

The king asked,“ Well, how can I help you?” With a prayer to the God of heaven,I replied,“ If it please the king, and if you are pleased with me, your servant, send me to Judah to rebuild the city where my ancestors are buried.”The king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked,“ How long will you be gone? When will you return?” After I told him how long I would be gone, the king agreed to my request.I also said to the king,“ If it please the king, let me have letters addressed to the governors of the province west of the Euphrates River, instructing them to let me travel safely through their territories on my way to Judah.And please give me a letter addressed to Asaph, the manager of the king’s forest, instructing him to give me timber. I will need it to make beams for the gates of the Temple fortress, for the city walls, and for a house for myself.” And the king granted these requests, because the gracious hand of God was on me.

When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.

Now God had given the chief of staff both respect and affection for Daniel.But he responded,“ I am afraid of my lord the king, who has ordered that you eat this food and wine. If you become pale and thin compared to the other youths your age, I am afraid the king will have me beheaded.”

O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup bearer.

Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem!And praise him for demonstrating such unfailing love to me by honoring me before the king, his council, and all his mighty nobles! I felt encouraged because the gracious hand of the Lord my God was on me. And I gathered some of the leaders of Israel to return with me to Jerusalem.
