耶和華說：「你們要站在路口觀望，尋訪古道，找到正路並行在其上，便會得到心靈的安寧。」但你們卻說：「我們拒絕這樣做。」

旱災持續了三年。一天，耶和華吩咐以利亞說：「你去見亞哈。我要降雨在地上。」

耶和華啊，求你指引我走你的路，教導我行你的道。求你以你的真理引領我，教導我，因為你是拯救我的上帝，我日夜仰望你。

在列國供奉的偶像中，誰能賜下雨水呢？天能自降甘霖嗎？我們的上帝耶和華啊，難道不是只有你能行這些事嗎？是你賜雨水降甘霖，所以我們仰望你。

霎時間，天上烏雲密佈，狂風大作，下起大雨。亞哈坐著馬車回耶斯列。

耶和華啊，蒙你管教並用律法訓誨的人有福了！

以利亞先知和我們一樣同是血肉之軀，他懇切地祈求不要下雨，結果三年半沒有下雨。後來他再禱告求雨，天就降雨，地也長出了莊稼。

多國的民都要前來，說：「來吧，讓我們登耶和華的山，去雅各之上帝的殿。祂必指示我們當行的路，我們也要遵行祂的道。」因為訓誨必出於錫安，耶和華的話語必來自耶路撒冷。

耶和華啊，求你將你的律例教導我，我必遵守到底。

中午時分，以利亞譏諷他們說：「喊大聲一點，他肯定是神明！也許他在沉思冥想，也許太忙了，也許出遊了，也許睡著了，需要人叫醒他！」於是，他們更加大聲呼求，並按自己的教規用刀槍自割自刺，直到身體流血。他們不斷地狂呼亂叫，直到獻晚祭的時候，仍然毫無動靜，沒有半點反應。以利亞把眾人召集到自己跟前，他重修已遭毀壞的耶和華的祭壇，拿了十二塊石頭分別代表雅各子孫的十二支派。耶和華曾經對雅各說：「你的名字要叫以色列。」以利亞就奉耶和華的名用那些石頭築了一座祭壇，又在壇的周圍挖了一條能盛十五升穀種的溝，然後在壇上擺好柴，把公牛切成塊放在柴上，對眾人說：「你們去打四桶水倒在祭物和柴上。」他們照做了。以利亞吩咐他們再倒一次，他們又倒了一次。以利亞又吩咐他們倒第三次，他們就倒了第三次。水流到壇的四周，溝裡也灌滿了。到了獻晚祭的時候，以利亞先知走到壇前禱告：「亞伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和華啊，求你今天讓這些人知道你是以色列的上帝，我是你的僕人，我是按你的命令做這一切事。耶和華啊，求你應允我，應允我，好讓眾人知道你耶和華是上帝，你要使他們回心轉意。」於是，耶和華降火燒盡了祭物、木柴、石頭、塵土，甚至溝裡的水。眾人看見這情景，都俯伏在地高呼：「耶和華是上帝！耶和華是上帝！」以利亞對他們說：「抓住巴力的先知，別放走一個人！」眾人就抓住他們，以利亞把他們帶到基順河邊，在那裡殺了他們。

凡敬畏耶和華的人，耶和華必指示他當走的路。

耶和華啊，我的仇敵眾多，求你以公義引領我，使我走你安排的正路。

耶和華啊，求你教我行你的道，我要行在你的真理中，求你使我一心敬畏你。

耶和華說：「我要教導你，引領你走正路；我要勸導你，看顧你。

耶和華良善公正，祂教導罪人走正路，

那裡必有一條大路，被稱為「聖潔之路」，專供蒙救贖的人行走。污穢的人都不能走這條路，愚昧的人也不能踏在上面。

求你讓我在清晨就聽見你的慈言愛語，因為我信靠你；求你指示我當走的路，因為我的心仰望你。

他們派了自己的門徒跟希律黨人一同去問耶穌：「老師，我們知道你誠實無偽，按真理傳上帝的道，你不徇情面，不以貌取人。

願你的上帝耶和華指示我們該去哪裡，該做什麼。」

「當你的子民得罪你，你懲罰他們，使天不降雨時，如果他們向著這地方禱告，承認你的名，並離開罪惡，求你在天上垂聽，赦免你僕人——你以色列子民的罪，教導他們走正道，降下甘霖滋潤你賜給你子民作產業的土地。

不管你們向左還是向右，都會聽見背後有聲音說：「這是正路，踏上去吧！」

上帝啊，你降下沛雨，滋潤你乾旱的產業——以色列，
