耶和华说：“你们要站在路口观望，寻访古道，找到正路并行在其上，便会得到心灵的安宁。”但你们却说：“我们拒绝这样做。”

旱灾持续了三年。一天，耶和华吩咐以利亚说：“你去见亚哈。我要降雨在地上。”

耶和华啊，求你指引我走你的路，教导我行你的道。求你以你的真理引领我，教导我，因为你是拯救我的上帝，我日夜仰望你。

在列国供奉的偶像中，谁能赐下雨水呢？天能自降甘霖吗？我们的上帝耶和华啊，难道不是只有你能行这些事吗？是你赐雨水降甘霖，所以我们仰望你。

霎时间，天上乌云密布，狂风大作，下起大雨。亚哈坐着马车回耶斯列。

耶和华啊，蒙你管教并用律法训诲的人有福了！

以利亚先知和我们一样同是血肉之躯，他恳切地祈求不要下雨，结果三年半没有下雨。后来他再祷告求雨，天就降雨，地也长出了庄稼。

多国的民都要前来，说：“来吧，让我们登耶和华的山，去雅各之上帝的殿。祂必指示我们当行的路，我们也要遵行祂的道。”因为训诲必出于锡安，耶和华的话语必来自耶路撒冷。

耶和华啊，求你将你的律例教导我，我必遵守到底。

中午时分，以利亚讥讽他们说：“喊大声一点，他肯定是神明！也许他在沉思冥想，也许太忙了，也许出游了，也许睡着了，需要人叫醒他！”于是，他们更加大声呼求，并按自己的教规用刀枪自割自刺，直到身体流血。他们不断地狂呼乱叫，直到献晚祭的时候，仍然毫无动静，没有半点反应。以利亚把众人召集到自己跟前，他重修已遭毁坏的耶和华的祭坛，拿了十二块石头分别代表雅各子孙的十二支派。耶和华曾经对雅各说：“你的名字要叫以色列。”以利亚就奉耶和华的名用那些石头筑了一座祭坛，又在坛的周围挖了一条能盛十五升谷种的沟，然后在坛上摆好柴，把公牛切成块放在柴上，对众人说：“你们去打四桶水倒在祭物和柴上。”他们照做了。以利亚吩咐他们再倒一次，他们又倒了一次。以利亚又吩咐他们倒第三次，他们就倒了第三次。水流到坛的四周，沟里也灌满了。到了献晚祭的时候，以利亚先知走到坛前祷告：“亚伯拉罕、以撒、以色列的上帝耶和华啊，求你今天让这些人知道你是以色列的上帝，我是你的仆人，我是按你的命令做这一切事。耶和华啊，求你应允我，应允我，好让众人知道你耶和华是上帝，你要使他们回心转意。”于是，耶和华降火烧尽了祭物、木柴、石头、尘土，甚至沟里的水。众人看见这情景，都俯伏在地高呼：“耶和华是上帝！耶和华是上帝！”以利亚对他们说：“抓住巴力的先知，别放走一个人！”众人就抓住他们，以利亚把他们带到基顺河边，在那里杀了他们。

凡敬畏耶和华的人，耶和华必指示他当走的路。

耶和华啊，我的仇敌众多，求你以公义引领我，使我走你安排的正路。

耶和华啊，求你教我行你的道，我要行在你的真理中，求你使我一心敬畏你。

耶和华说：“我要教导你，引领你走正路；我要劝导你，看顾你。

耶和华良善公正，祂教导罪人走正路，

那里必有一条大路，被称为“圣洁之路”，专供蒙救赎的人行走。污秽的人都不能走这条路，愚昧的人也不能踏在上面。

求你让我在清晨就听见你的慈言爱语，因为我信靠你；求你指示我当走的路，因为我的心仰望你。

他们派了自己的门徒跟希律党人一同去问耶稣：“老师，我们知道你诚实无伪，按真理传上帝的道，你不徇情面，不以貌取人。

愿你的上帝耶和华指示我们该去哪里，该做什么。”

“当你的子民得罪你，你惩罚他们，使天不降雨时，如果他们向着这地方祷告，承认你的名，并离开罪恶，求你在天上垂听，赦免你仆人——你以色列子民的罪，教导他们走正道，降下甘霖滋润你赐给你子民作产业的土地。

不管你们向左还是向右，都会听见背后有声音说：“这是正路，踏上去吧！”

上帝啊，你降下沛雨，滋润你干旱的产业——以色列，
