But truly I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the sky was shut up three years and six months, when a great famine came over all the land.

These have the power to shut up the sky, that it may not rain during the days of their prophecy. They have power over the waters, to turn them into blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.

Elijah the Tishbite, who was one of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab,“ As Yahweh, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.”

that your eyes may be open toward this house night and day, even toward the place of which you have said,‘ My name shall be there;’ to listen to the prayer which your servant prays toward this place.Listen to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Yes, hear in heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

Gather the elders, and all the inhabitants of the land, to the house of Yahweh, your God, and cry to Yahweh.Alas for the day! For the day of Yahweh is at hand, and it will come as destruction from the Almighty.Isn’t the food cut off before our eyes; joy and gladness from the house of our God?The seeds rot under their clods. The granaries are laid desolate. The barns are broken down, for the grain has withered.How the animals groan! The herds of livestock are perplexed, because they have no pasture. Yes, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.Yahweh, I cry to you, For the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame has burned all the trees of the field.Yes, the animals of the field pant to you, for the water brooks have dried up, And the fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

Yet the people have not turned to him who struck them, neither have they sought Yahweh of Armies.

Israel, return to Yahweh your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.

“ Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand on it, and break the staff of its bread, and send famine on it, and cut off from it man and animal;

Your sky that is over your head will be bronze, and the earth that is under you will be iron.Yahweh will make the rain of your land powder and dust. It will come down on you from the sky, until you are destroyed.

that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Yahweh will open to you his good treasure in the sky, to give the rain of your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow.

They are disappointed and confounded, and cover their heads.Because of the ground which is cracked, because no rain has been in the land, the plowmen are disappointed. They cover their heads.Yes, the doe in the field also calves and forsakes her young, because there is no grass.The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights. They pant for air like jackals. Their eyes fail, because there is no vegetation.Though our iniquities testify against us, work for your name’s sake, Yahweh; for our rebellions are many. We have sinned against you.
