“ When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple,

“ When someone is accused of sinning against his neighbor and the latter pronounces a curse on the alleged offender before your altar in this temple, be willing to forgive the accused if the accusation is false.

“ If a man sins against his neighbor, and an oath is laid on him to cause him to swear, and he comes and swears before your altar in this house;

如果找不到竊賊，那家主必要到審判官（“審判官”原文作“神”）那裡，查明他有沒有下手拿去鄰舍的財物。任何爭訟的案件，無論是為了牛、驢、羊、衣服，或是甚麼遺失了的東西，如果一方說：‘這是我的’，這樣，雙方的案件就要帶到審判官（“審判官”原文作“神”）面前，審判官定誰有罪，誰就要雙倍償還給他的鄰舍。“如果人把驢、牛、羊，或是任何牲畜交給鄰舍看守，牲畜死亡、受傷，或是被趕去，又沒有人看見，兩人必須在耶和華面前起誓，表明他沒有下手拿去鄰舍的財物；如果物主接受那誓言，看守的人就不必賠償。

免得我吃飽了，就不認你，說：‘耶和華是誰？’又恐怕我貧窮，就偷竊，污瀆了我神的名。

“祭司要使那婦人走進來，站在耶和華面前。祭司要把聖水盛在瓦器裡，又從帳幕的地面取些塵土，撒在水中。祭司要使那婦人站在耶和華面前，鬆開她的頭髮，把思念的素祭，就是疑忌的素祭，放在她的手中，祭司的手裡要拿著使人招致咒詛的苦水。祭司要叫那婦人起誓，對她說：‘如果沒有人與你同寢，作妻子時沒有背棄丈夫被人玷污，你就免受這使人招致咒詛的苦水。但是，如果你作妻子時背棄了丈夫，被人玷污了；如果你在你的丈夫以外，曾與別的男人同寢’，這樣，祭司就要叫那婦人發咒起誓，繼續對她說：‘耶和華要使你的大腿消瘦，肚腹腫脹；願耶和華叫你在你的族人中成為咒詛和起誓的話柄；願這招致咒詛的水進入你的腹中，使你的肚腹腫脹，大腿消瘦。’那婦人要說：‘阿們、阿們。’

“如果有人犯罪：他聽見發誓的聲音（“發誓的聲音”或譯：“傳召作證的聲音”，或“發咒語的聲音”）；他本是證人，卻不肯把看見或知道的說出來，他就要擔當自己的罪責。

“人若是得罪了鄰舍，有人要他起誓，他就來到這殿，在你的祭壇前起誓；求你從天上垂聽，施行你的作為，審判你的僕人，照著惡人所行的報應在他頭上；宣告義人無罪，照著他的義行賞賜他。
