然上帝豈居於地乎。穹蒼不足以居爾、天上明宮亦不足以居爾、況我所建之殿乎。

然天主豈真居於地乎、天與天上之天、尚不足為主之居所、況我所建此殿乎、

“ But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built!

“ But will you really live on earth? After all, the heavens can’t hold you. In fact, even the highest heavens can’t hold you. So this temple I’ve built certainly can’t hold you!

“ But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot contain you; how much less this house that I have built!

“ God does not really live on the earth! Look, if the sky and the highest heaven cannot contain you, how much less this temple I have built!

But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a temple, except to burn sacrifice before Him?

Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the Lord;“ Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the Lord.

Thus says the Lord:“ Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. Where is the house that you will build Me? And where is the place of My rest?

“ However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:‘ Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest?

Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence?If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.If I take the wings of the morning, And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,Even there Your hand shall lead me, And Your right hand shall hold me.If I say,“ Surely the darkness shall fall on me,” Even the night shall be light about me;Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You, But the night shines as the day; The darkness and the light are both alike to You.For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb.I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

The Lord is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.

Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it.

I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago— whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows— such a one was caught up to the third heaven.

And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:“ I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”
