So Solomon and all Israel with him— a very great assembly, from the entrance to Hamath to the Brook of Egypt— observed the festival at that time for seven days.On the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for the dedication of the altar lasted seven days and the festival seven days.On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people home, rejoicing and with happy hearts for the goodness the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for his people Israel.

“ You are to celebrate the Festival of Shelters for seven days when you have gathered in everything from your threshing floor and winepress.

Solomon and all Israel with him— a great assembly, from the entrance of Hamath to the Brook of Egypt— observed the festival at that time in the presence of the LORD our God, seven days, and seven more days— fourteen days.

They celebrated the Festival of Shelters as prescribed, and offered burnt offerings each day, based on the number specified by ordinance for each festival day.

Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Armies, and to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.Should any of the families of the earth not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of Armies, rain will not fall on them.And if the people of Egypt will not go up and enter, then rain will not fall on them; this will be the plague the LORD inflicts on the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.This will be the punishment of Egypt and all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Shelters.

The Jewish Festival of Shelters was near.

On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and cried out,“ If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.

So all the men of Israel were assembled in the king’s presence at the festival; this was in the seventh month.

They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded through Moses that the Israelites should dwell in shelters during the festival of the seventh month.So they proclaimed and spread this news throughout their towns and in Jerusalem, saying,“ Go out to the hill country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive, myrtle, palm, and other leafy trees to make shelters, just as it is written.”The people went out, brought back branches, and made shelters for themselves on each of their rooftops and courtyards, the court of the house of God, the square by the Water Gate, and the square by the Ephraim Gate.The whole community that had returned from exile made shelters and lived in them. The Israelites had not celebrated like this from the days of Joshua son of Nun until that day. And there was tremendous joy.Ezra read out of the book of the law of God every day, from the first day to the last. The Israelites celebrated the festival for seven days, and on the eighth day there was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.

“ You are to hold a sacred assembly on the fifteenth day of the seventh month; you do not do any daily work. You are to celebrate a seven-day festival for the LORD.Present a burnt offering, a food offering, a pleasing aroma to the LORD: thirteen young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old. They are to be unblemished.Their grain offering is to be of fine flour mixed with oil, six quarts with each of the thirteen bulls, four quarts with each of the two rams,and two quarts with each of the fourteen lambs.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the second day present twelve young bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink and their drink offerings.“ On the third day present eleven bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the fourth day present ten bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the fifth day present nine bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the sixth day present eight bulls, two rams, fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ On the seventh day present seven bulls, two rams, and fourteen male lambs a year old— all unblemished—with their grain and drink offerings for the bulls, rams, and lambs, in proportion to their number.Also offer one male goat as a sin offering. These are in addition to the regular burnt offering with its grain and drink offerings.“ Offer these to the LORD at your appointed times in addition to your vow and freewill offerings, whether burnt, grain, drink, or fellowship offerings.”So Moses told the Israelites everything the LORD had commanded him.
