‘ Since the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, but I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.’

‘ I brought my people Israel out of Egypt. Ever since, I haven’t chosen a city in any tribe of Israel where a temple could be built for my Name. But I have chosen David to rule over my people Israel.’

‘ Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, that my name might be there. But I chose David to be over my people Israel.’

‘ From the day I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I have never chosen a city among any of the tribes of Israel as the place where a Temple should be built to honor my name. But I have chosen David to be king over my people Israel.’”

願你晝夜看顧這殿——你應許立你名的地方！你僕人向著這地方禱告的時候，求你垂聽。

以色列的上帝耶和華從我父親家中揀選我做以色列的王，直到永遠。因為祂揀選了猶大支派做首領；在猶大支派中，祂揀選了我父親家；在我父親的眾子中，祂喜悅我，立我做以色列的王。

你們要把我吩咐你們獻的燔祭、各種牲祭、十一奉獻、舉祭和一切還願祭帶到你們的上帝耶和華選定的敬拜場所。

從我把以色列人帶出埃及那天起直到今天，我從未住過殿宇，都住在四處遷移的帳篷裡。在我與以色列人同行的日子，我從未責問任何我委派牧養我子民的士師，『你為何不為我建造香柏木的殿宇呢？』

因為耶和華已經揀選了錫安，願意將錫安作為祂的居所。

耶和華說：「我要像驅逐以色列人一樣將猶大人從我面前趕走。我要撇棄我所揀選的耶路撒冷和我名常在的殿。」

祂揀選了祂的僕人大衛，把他從羊圈中召來，

你們的上帝耶和華要在你們眾支派中選一個地方作祂的居所，你們要去那裡敬拜祂，

但如果你們轉向我，謹遵我的誡命，即使你們流落天涯，我也必從那裡把你們召集到我選為我名所在之地。』

只給他兒子留下一個支派，好使我僕人大衛有後裔留在我選為居所的耶路撒冷城。

你曾在異象中對你忠心的子民說：「我已把力量賜給一位勇士，已擢升我在民中揀選的人。我找到了我的僕人大衛，用我的聖油膏立他。

祂曾說，『自從我把我的子民帶出埃及以來，我並沒有在以色列眾支派中選出一座城建造殿宇作為我名所在之地，也沒有選立一人做我以色列子民的君王。但如今，我揀選了耶路撒冷作為我名所在之地，又揀選了大衛來治理我的以色列子民。』」所羅門又說：「我父大衛曾想建一座殿來尊崇以色列的上帝耶和華之名，但耶和華對我父大衛說，『你想為我建殿，這番心意是好的，但你不要建，要由你的親生兒子為我建殿。』現在耶和華已經成就祂的應許，讓我繼承我父大衛的王位統治以色列，又為以色列的上帝耶和華的名建了殿。我把約櫃安放在裡面，約櫃裡有耶和華與以色列人所立的約。」

「『你們去我曾選為我名所在之地的示羅，看看我是怎樣因我以色列子民的罪而懲罰那地方的。
