耶和華的殿在所羅門執政第四年的西弗月奠基，

告訴他，萬軍之耶和華說，『看啊，那被稱為大衛苗裔的要從自己的地方興起，建造耶和華的殿。祂必建造耶和華的殿，帶著王者的尊榮坐在寶座上掌權，寶座上也必坐著祭司，兩者和諧共存。』

耶穌回答說：「你們拆毀這座殿，我三天之內會把它重建起來。」他們說：「這座殿用了四十六年才建成，你三天之內就要把它重建起來嗎？」其實耶穌說的殿是指自己的身體，

因為他盼望的是一座有根基的城，是由上帝設計、建造的。

求你賜給我兒所羅門忠誠的心，以遵行你的誡命、法度和律例，用我預備的材料全力建造殿宇。」

豈不知你們的身體就是聖靈的殿嗎？你們裡面住著上帝所賜的聖靈。你們不再屬於自己，

以色列人離開埃及後第二年的二月一日，耶和華在西奈曠野的會幕中對摩西說：

三百年來，以色列人一直住在希實本及其周圍的鄉村、亞羅珥及其周圍的鄉村和亞嫩河沿岸一帶的城邑。在這期間，你們為什麼不收回這些土地呢？

你們已被建立在眾使徒和先知們的基礎上，基督耶穌自己是房角石。整座建築的各部分都靠祂巧妙地連接在一起，逐漸成為主的聖殿。你們也靠著祂被建造在一起，成為上帝藉著聖靈居住的地方。

遠方的人也要來建造耶和華的殿。那時你們便知道是萬軍之耶和華差遣我到你們這裡來的。你們若全心遵從你們上帝耶和華的話，這事就必成就。

按照你們所受的教導在祂裡面扎根成長，信心堅固，滿懷感恩。

現在基督已經來到，作了美好新約的大祭司，祂進入了那更偉大、更全備、非人手建造、不屬於這個世界的聖幕。

上帝的殿與偶像怎能相提並論呢？因為我們就是永活上帝的殿，正如上帝說：「我要住在他們中間，在他們當中往來；我要作他們的上帝，他們要作我的子民。」
