昔我父大闢、四方戰鬥、未蒙耶和華服諸敵於足下、故不得建殿、以籲其上帝耶和華之名、乃爾所知。

昔我父大衛、四方徵戰、不能為主其天主之名建殿、待主以諸敵服其足下乃可、此爾所知、

“ You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.

“ As you know, my father David had to fight many battles. His enemies attacked him from every side. So he couldn’t build a temple where the Lord his God would put his Name. That wouldn’t be possible until the Lord had put his enemies under his control.

“ You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

“ You know that my father, David, was not able to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord his God because of the many wars waged against him by surrounding nations. He could not build until the Lord gave him victory over all his enemies.

“ You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of the LORD his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the LORD put his enemies under his feet.

“ You know that David my father was unable to build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

You know how my father David could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which were fought against him on every side, until the Lord put his foes under the soles of his feet.

Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.

“ You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.

Thou knowest how that David my father could not build an house unto the name of the LORD his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until the LORD put them under the soles of his feet.

“ You know that my father David was unable to build a temple to honor the LORD his God, for he was busy fighting battles on all fronts while the LORD subdued his enemies.

But God said to me,‘ You shall not build a house for my name, because you are a man of war, and have shed blood.’

But Yahweh’s word came to me, saying,‘ You have shed blood abundantly, and have made great wars. You shall not build a house to my name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight.

and cedar trees without number, for the Sidonians and the people of Tyre brought cedar trees in abundance to David.David said,“ Solomon my son is young and tender, and the house that is to be built for Yahweh must be exceedingly magnificent, of fame and of glory throughout all countries. I will therefore make preparation for it.” So David prepared abundantly before his death.Then he called for Solomon his son, and commanded him to build a house for Yahweh, the God of Israel.

Yahweh says to my Lord,“ Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool for your feet.”

but now I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.’Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.But Yahweh said to David my father,‘ Whereas it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it was in your heart;

When they brought those kings out to Joshua, Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said to the chiefs of the men of war who went with him,“ Come near. Put your feet on the necks of these kings.” They came near, and put their feet on their necks.

You make him ruler over the works of your hands. You have put all things under his feet:

You shall tread down the wicked; for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make,” says Yahweh of Armies.

He put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things for the assembly,

For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.

“ Go and tell my servant David,‘ Yahweh says,“ Should you build me a house for me to dwell in?For I have not lived in a house since the day that I brought the children of Israel up out of Egypt, even to this day, but have moved around in a tent and in a tabernacle.In all places in which I have walked with all the children of Israel, did I say a word to any of the tribes of Israel, whom I commanded to be shepherd of my people Israel, saying,‘ Why have you not built me a house of cedar?’”’Now therefore tell my servant David this,‘ Yahweh of Armies says,“ I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel.I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you. I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place, and be moved no more. The children of wickedness will not afflict them any more, as at the first,and as from the day that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. Moreover Yahweh tells you that Yahweh will make you a house.
