“ You know that because of the wars waged against my father David from all sides, he could not build a temple for the Name of the Lord his God until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.

“ As you know, my father David had to fight many battles. His enemies attacked him from every side. So he couldn’t build a temple where the Lord his God would put his Name. That wouldn’t be possible until the Lord had put his enemies under his control.

“ You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the warfare with which his enemies surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

“ You know that my father, David, was not able to build a Temple to honor the name of the Lord his God because of the many wars waged against him by surrounding nations. He could not build until the Lord gave him victory over all his enemies.

“ You know that David my father was unable to build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which surrounded him, until the Lord put them under the soles of his feet.

You know how my father David could not build a house for the name of the Lord his God because of the wars which were fought against him on every side, until the Lord put his foes under the soles of his feet.

Thou knowest how that David my father could not build a house for the name of Jehovah his God for the wars which were about him on every side, until Jehovah put them under the soles of his feet.

“ You know my father David was not able to build a temple for the name of Yahweh his God. This was because of the warfare all around him until the Lord put his enemies under his feet.

“ You know that my father David was unable to build a temple to honor the LORD his God, for he was busy fighting battles on all fronts while the LORD subdued his enemies.

“ You know that David my father could not build a house for the name of Yahweh his God because of the wars which were around him on every side, until Yahweh put his enemies under the soles of his feet.

but God said to me,‘ You are not to build a house for my name because you are a man of war and have shed blood.’

but the word of the LORD came to me:‘ You have shed much blood and waged great wars. You are not to build a house for my name because you have shed so much blood on the ground before me.

and innumerable cedar logs because the Sidonians and Tyrians had brought a large quantity of cedar logs to David.David said,“ My son Solomon is young and inexperienced, and the house that is to be built for the LORD must be exceedingly great and famous and glorious in all the lands. Therefore, I will make provision for it.” So David made lavish preparations for it before his death.Then he summoned his son Solomon and charged him to build a house for the LORD God of Israel.

This is the declaration of the LORD to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.”

But I have chosen Jerusalem so that my name will be there, and I have chosen David to be over my people Israel.”My father David had his heart set on building a temple for the name of the LORD, the God of Israel.However, the LORD said to my father David,“ Since it was your desire to build a temple for my name, you have done well to have this desire.

When they had brought the kings to him, Joshua summoned all the men of Israel and said to the military commanders who had accompanied him,“ Come here and put your feet on the necks of these kings.” So the commanders came forward and put their feet on their necks.

You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet:

You will trample the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day I am preparing,” says the LORD of Armies.

And he subjected everything under his feet and appointed him as head over everything for the church,

For he must reign until he puts all his enemies under his feet.

“ Go to my servant David and say,‘ This is what the LORD says: Are you to build me a house to dwell in?From the time I brought the Israelites out of Egypt until today I have not dwelt in a house; instead, I have been moving around with a tent as my dwelling.In all my journeys with all the Israelites, have I ever spoken a word to one of the tribal leaders of Israel, whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, asking: Why haven’t you built me a house of cedar?’“ So now this is what you are to say to my servant David:‘ This is what the LORD of Armies says: I took you from the pasture, from tending the flock, to be ruler over my people Israel.I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before you. I will make a great name for you like that of the greatest on the earth.I will designate a place for my people Israel and plant them, so that they may live there and not be disturbed again. Evildoers will not continue to oppress them as they have doneever since the day I ordered judges to be over my people Israel. I will give you rest from all your enemies.“‘ The LORD declares to you: The LORD himself will make a house for you.
