城的牆有十二個根基，有羔羊十二使徒的十二個名字在上頭。那同我說話的執有一根金葦子當做量尺，要量那城和城門城牆。城是四方的，長寬都一樣。天使用葦子量那城：有四千里；長寬高都相等；又量了城牆、有一百四十四肘、按人的尺寸、就是天使的尺寸。城牆嵌着碧玉，城又是淨金的，彷彿淨玻璃。城牆的根基用各樣寶石為妝飾：第一個根基是碧玉，第二藍寶石，第三瑪瑙，第四綠寶石，第五條紋瑪瑙，第六肉紅玉髓，第七黃璧璽，第八水蒼玉，第九黃玉，第十翡翠，第十一風信子石，第十二紫晶。十二個大門是十二顆珍珠：每一個大門是用一顆珍珠造的。城內的街道是淨金的，像透明的玻璃。

因為經上有明文說：『你看，我把一塊蒙揀選而寶貴的房角石放在錫安；信靠他的人決不至於失望。』這樣，在你們信的人、基督是寶貴，而在不信的人、他卻不但是『匠人所棄掉的這塊石頭，已成了房角石的頭一塊』，
