摩西在曠野所造之耶和華的帳幕和燔祭壇，當時都在基遍的丘壇，

所羅門王獻二萬二千頭牛、十二萬隻羊為祭。這樣，王和眾百姓為神的殿行了奉獻之禮。

黎巴嫩不夠當柴燒，其中的走獸也不夠作燔祭。

「我朝見耶和華，在至高神面前跪拜，當獻上甚麼呢？難道獻一歲的牛犢為燔祭來朝見他嗎？耶和華豈喜悅千千的公羊，或是萬萬的油河嗎？我豈可為自己的過犯獻我的長子，為自己的罪惡獻我所親生的嗎？」

耶和華第二次向所羅門顯現，如先前在基遍向他顯現一樣。

猶大王希西家賜給會眾一千頭公牛、七千隻羊；眾領袖也賜給會眾一千頭公牛、一萬隻羊，並有許多祭司將自己分別為聖。

耶路撒冷人就很懼怕，因為基遍是一座大城，如京城一樣，比艾城更大，並且城內的人都是勇士。

基遍的居民聽見約書亞向耶利哥和艾城所做的事，

會眾所奉的燔祭數目如下：七十頭公牛、一百隻公羊、二百隻羔羊，這些全都是要作燔祭獻給耶和華的；又有分別為聖之物，就是六百頭公牛、三千隻綿羊。但祭司太少，不能剝盡所有燔祭牲的皮，所以他們的弟兄利未人幫助他們，直等獻祭的事完畢，直到其他的祭司也分別為聖了；因利未人以正直的心分別為聖，勝過祭司。燔祭和平安祭牲的脂肪，以及與燔祭同獻的澆酒祭很多。這樣，耶和華殿中的事務俱都齊備了。

所羅門向耶和華獻平安祭，二萬二千頭牛，十二萬隻羊。這樣，王和全以色列為耶和華的殿行了奉獻之禮。
