所羅門上到耶和華面前會幕的銅壇那裏，獻一千犧牲為燔祭。當夜，神向所羅門顯現，對他說：「你願我賜你甚麼，你可以求。」所羅門對神說：「你曾向我父大衛大施慈愛，使我接續他作王。耶和華神啊，現在求你成就向我父大衛所應許的話；因你立我作這民的王，他們如同地上塵沙那樣多。求你賜我智慧聰明，我好在這民前出入；不然，誰能判斷這眾多的民呢？」神對所羅門說：「我已立你作我民的王。你既有這心意，並不求資財、豐富、尊榮，也不求滅絕那恨你之人的性命，又不求大壽數，只求智慧聰明好判斷我的民；我必賜你智慧聰明，也必賜你資財、豐富、尊榮。在你以前的列王都沒有這樣，在你以後也必沒有這樣的。」

摩西在曠野所造之耶和華的帳幕和燔祭壇都在基遍的高處；

所羅門王用牛二萬二千，羊十二萬獻祭。這樣，王和眾民為神的殿行奉獻之禮。

黎巴嫩的樹林不夠當柴燒；其中的走獸也不夠作燔祭。

我朝見耶和華，在至高神面前跪拜，當獻上甚麼呢？豈可獻一歲的牛犢為燔祭嗎？耶和華豈喜悅千千的公羊，或是萬萬的油河嗎？我豈可為自己的罪過獻我的長子嗎？為心中的罪惡獻我身所生的嗎？

耶和華就二次向所羅門顯現，如先前在基遍向他顯現一樣，

猶大王希西家賜給會眾公牛一千隻，羊七千隻為祭物；眾首領也賜給會眾公牛一千隻，羊一萬隻，並有許多的祭司潔淨自己。

就甚懼怕；因為基遍是一座大城，如都城一般，比艾城更大，並且城內的人都是勇士。

基遍的居民聽見約書亞向耶利哥和艾城所行的事，

會眾所奉的燔祭如下：公牛七十隻，公羊一百隻，羊羔二百隻，這都是作燔祭獻給耶和華的；又有分別為聖之物，公牛六百隻，綿羊三千隻。但祭司太少，不能剝盡燔祭牲的皮，所以他們的弟兄利未人幫助他們，直等燔祭的事完了，又等別的祭司自潔了；因為利未人誠心自潔，勝過祭司。燔祭和平安祭牲的脂油，並燔祭同獻的奠祭甚多。這樣，耶和華殿中的事務俱都齊備了。

所羅門向耶和華獻平安祭，用牛二萬二千，羊十二萬。這樣，王和以色列眾民為耶和華的殿行奉獻之禮。
