And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat,[ There is] yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may enquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one prophet through whom we can inquire of the Lord, but I hate him because he never prophesies anything good about me, but always bad. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”“ The king should not say such a thing,” Jehoshaphat replied.

The king of Israel answered Jehoshaphat. He said,“ There is still one other man we can go to. We can ask the Lord for advice through him. But I hate him. He never prophesies anything good about me. He only prophesies bad things. His name is Micaiah. He’s the son of Imlah.”“ You shouldn’t say bad things about him,” Jehoshaphat replied.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, Micaiah the son of Imlah, but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say so.”

The king of Israel replied to Jehoshaphat,“ There is one more man who could consult the Lord for us, but I hate him. He never prophesies anything but trouble for me! His name is Micaiah son of Imlah.” Jehoshaphat replied,“ That’s not the way a king should talk! Let’s hear what he has to say.”

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man who can inquire of the LORD, but I hate him because he never prophesies good about me, but only disaster. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.”“ The king shouldn’t say that!” Jehoshaphat replied.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy anything good regarding me, but only bad. He is Micaiah the son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said,“ May the king not say so.”

So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said,“ Let not the king say such things!”

The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat,“ There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of Yahweh, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” Jehoshaphat said,“ Don’t let the king say so.”

The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

They hate him that rebuketh in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.

O[ thou that art] named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD straitened?[ are] these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this[ fellow] in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

And ye shall be hated of all[ men] for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till[ there was] no remedy.

Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.

Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel,[ and] his Holy One, to him whom man despiseth, to him whom the nation abhorreth, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD that is faithful,[ and] the Holy One of Israel, and he shall choose thee.

If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie,[ saying], I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.

Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.

And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.And the word of the LORD came to Elijah the Tishbite, saying,Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days:[ but] in his son’s days will I bring the evil upon his house.

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.Then said he unto him, Because thou hast not obeyed the voice of the LORD, behold, as soon as thou art departed from me, a lion shall slay thee. And as soon as he was departed from him, a lion found him, and slew him.Then he found another man, and said, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man smote him, so that in smiting he wounded[ him].So the prophet departed, and waited for the king by the way, and disguised himself with ashes upon his face.And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So[ shall] thy judgment[ be]; thyself hast decided[ it].And he hasted, and took the ashes away from his face; and the king of Israel discerned him that he[ was] of the prophets.And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of[ thy] hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.And the king of Israel went to his house heavy and displeased, and came to Samaria.

And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.

If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before[ it hated] you.If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

But Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to death, and carry us away captives into Babylon.So Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces, and all the people, obeyed not the voice of the LORD, to dwell in the land of Judah.

Woe unto the wicked![ it shall be] ill[ with him]: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found[ thee]: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD.

For it was[ so], when Jezebel cut off the prophets of the LORD, that Obadiah took an hundred prophets, and hid them by fifty in a cave, and fed them with bread and water.)

Three shepherds also I cut off in one month; and my soul lothed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets[ declare] good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak[ that which is] good.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.And their dead bodies[ shall lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I,[ even] I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

I create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to[ him that is] far off, and to[ him that is] near, saith the LORD; and I will heal him.But the wicked[ are] like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt.[ There is] no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.

Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report,[ say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting,[ saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.
