He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, because he followed the ways of his father and mother and of Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

Ahaziah did what was evil in the sight of the Lord. He lived the way his father and mother had lived. He lived the way Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, had lived. Jeroboam had caused Israel to sin.

He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.

亞哈謝效法亞哈家行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，與亞哈家一樣，因為他是亞哈家的女婿。

亞哈謝在撒馬利亞，一日從樓上的欄杆裏掉下來，就病了；於是差遣使者說：「你們去問以革倫的神巴力‧西卜，我這病能好不能好。」但耶和華的使者對提斯比人以利亞說：「你起來，去迎着撒馬利亞王的使者，對他們說：『你們去問以革倫神巴力‧西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神嗎？』所以耶和華如此說：『你必不下你所上的牀，必定要死！』」以利亞就去了。使者回來見王，王問他們說：「你們為甚麼回來呢？」使者回答說：「有一個人迎着我們來，對我們說：『你們回去見差你們來的王，對他說：耶和華如此說，你差人去問以革倫神巴力‧西卜，豈因以色列中沒有神嗎？所以你必不下所上的牀，必定要死。』」王問他們說：「迎着你們來告訴你們這話的，是怎樣的人？」

亞哈謝也行亞哈家的道；因為他母親給他主謀，使他行惡。

看哪，我站在門外叩門，若有聽見我聲音就開門的，我要進到他那裏去，我與他，他與我一同坐席。

你竟行惡，比那在你以先的更甚，為自己立了別神，鑄了偶像，惹我發怒，將我丟在背後。因此，我必使災禍臨到耶羅波安的家，將屬耶羅波安的男丁，無論困住的、自由的都從以色列中剪除，必除盡耶羅波安的家，如人除盡糞土一般。凡屬耶羅波安的人，死在城中的必被狗吃，死在田野的必被空中的鳥吃。這是耶和華說的。』所以你起身回家去吧！你的腳一進城，你兒子就必死了。以色列眾人必為他哀哭，將他葬埋。凡屬耶羅波安的人，惟有他得入墳墓；因為在耶羅波安的家中，只有他向耶和華－以色列的神顯出善行。耶和華必另立一王治理以色列。到了日期，他必剪除耶羅波安的家；那日期已經到了。耶和華必擊打以色列人，使他們搖動，像水中的蘆葦一般；又將他們從耶和華賜給他們列祖的美地上拔出來，分散在大河那邊；因為他們做木偶，惹耶和華發怒。因耶羅波安所犯的罪，又使以色列人陷在罪裏，耶和華必將以色列人交給仇敵。」

然而，他貼近尼八的兒子耶羅波安使以色列人陷在罪裏的那罪，總不離開。

約蘭見耶戶就說：「耶戶啊，平安嗎？」耶戶說：「你母親耶洗別的淫行邪術這樣多，焉能平安呢？」

她就出去對她母親說：「我可以求甚麼呢？」她母親說：「施洗約翰的頭。」

暗利的兒子亞哈行耶和華眼中看為惡的事，比他以前的列王更甚，犯了尼八的兒子耶羅波安所犯的罪；他還以為輕，又娶了西頓王謁巴力的女兒耶洗別為妻，去事奉敬拜巴力，在撒馬利亞建造巴力的廟，在廟裏為巴力築壇。亞哈又做亞舍拉，他所行的惹耶和華－以色列神的怒氣，比他以前的以色列諸王更甚。

耶羅波安王就籌劃定妥，鑄造了兩個金牛犢，對眾民說：「以色列人哪，你們上耶路撒冷去實在是難；這就是領你們出埃及地的神。」他就把牛犢一隻安在伯特利，一隻安在但。這事叫百姓陷在罪裏，因為他們往但去拜那牛犢。耶羅波安在邱壇那裏建殿，將那不屬利未人的凡民立為祭司。耶羅波安定八月十五日為節期，像在猶大的節期一樣，自己上壇獻祭。他在伯特利也這樣向他所鑄的牛犢獻祭，又將立為邱壇的祭司安置在伯特利。他在八月十五日，就是他私自所定的月日，為以色列人立作節期的日子，在伯特利上壇燒香。
