Micaiah declared,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Mark my words, all you people!”

Micaiah announced,“ Do you really think you will return safely? If you do, the Lord hasn’t spoken through me.” He continued,“ All of you people, remember what I’ve said!”

And Micaiah said,“ If you return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Hear, all you peoples!”

But Micaiah replied,“ If you return safely, it will mean that the Lord has not spoken through me!” Then he added to those standing around,“ Everyone mark my words!”

But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return safely, the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

But Micaiah said,“ If you actually return safely, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said,“ Take heed, all you people!”

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hear, ye peoples, all of you.

But Micaiah said,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he said,“ Listen, all you people!”

And Micaiah said, If thou return at all in peace, the LORD hath not spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, O people, every one of you.

Micaiah said,“ If you really do safely return, then the LORD has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Take note, all you people.”

Micaiah said,“ If you return at all in peace, Yahweh has not spoken by me.” He said,“ Listen, all you people!”

Hear, you peoples, all of you, listen, earth and all who live in it, that the Sovereign Lord may bear witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple.

If these men die a natural death and suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.

David himself calls him‘ Lord.’ How then can he be his son?” The large crowd listened to him with delight.

“ You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord?Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

Elijah answered the captain,“ If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then fire fell from heaven and consumed the captain and his men.

Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said,“ Listen to me, everyone, and understand this.Nothing outside a person can defile them by going into them. Rather, it is what comes out of a person that defiles them.”

Elijah went before the people and said,“ How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.” But the people said nothing.Then Elijah said to them,“ I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it.Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire— he is God.” Then all the people said,“ What you say is good.”

From early times the prophets who preceded you and me have prophesied war, disaster and plague against many countries and great kingdoms.But the prophet who prophesies peace will be recognized as one truly sent by the Lord only if his prediction comes true.”

“ If I am a man of God,” Elijah replied,“ may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty men!” Then the fire of God fell from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.

Micaiah declared,“ If you ever return safely, the Lord has not spoken through me.” Then he added,“ Mark my words, all you people!”

who carries out the words of his servants and fulfills the predictions of his messengers, who says of Jerusalem,‘ It shall be inhabited,’ of the towns of Judah,‘ They shall be rebuilt,’ and of their ruins,‘ I will restore them,’

At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed:“ Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

Hear this word, people of Israel, the word the Lord has spoken against you— against the whole family I brought up out of Egypt:

But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.”You may say to yourselves,“ How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?”If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.
