“ I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her.

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

亚哈回答说：“我要耶斯列人拿伯将他的葡萄园卖给我，如果他愿意，我也可以用别的葡萄园跟他交换，可是他不肯。”

亚哈回答她说：“因为我对耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园让给我，我付你银子；或者你喜欢的话，我可以用另一个葡萄园与你交换’；可是他说：‘我不能把我的葡萄园让给你。’”

亞哈回答她說：“因為我對耶斯列人拿伯說：‘把你的葡萄園讓給我，我付你銀子；或者你喜歡的話，我可以用另一個葡萄園與你交換’；可是他說：‘我不能把我的葡萄園讓給你。’”

曰、我告耶斯烈人拿泊云、爾之葡萄園、或予以金、或易以他園、任爾所擇。彼曰不以我園予爾。

亞哈謂之曰、我告耶斯烈人拿伯云、以爾葡萄園鬻我、我予爾以金、爾若欲他葡萄園、我則予爾以易之、彼曰、我不以我葡萄園予爾、

He answered her,“ Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite,‘ Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

He answered her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said,‘ Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”

And he said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him,‘ Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.

One day Ahab said to Naboth,“ Since your vineyard is so convenient to my palace, I would like to buy it to use as a vegetable garden. I will give you a better vineyard in exchange, or if you prefer, I will pay you for it.”But Naboth replied,“ The Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance that was passed down by my ancestors.”So Ahab went home angry and sullen because of Naboth’s answer. The king went to bed with his face to the wall and refused to eat!

Haman was a happy man as he left the banquet! But when he saw Mordecai sitting at the palace gate, not standing up or trembling nervously before him, Haman became furious.However, he restrained himself and went on home. Then Haman gathered together his friends and Zeresh, his wife,and boasted to them about his great wealth and his many children. He bragged about the honors the king had given him and how he had been promoted over all the other nobles and officials.Then Haman added,“ And that’s not all! Queen Esther invited only me and the king himself to the banquet she prepared for us. And she has invited me to dine with her and the king again tomorrow!”Then he added,“ But this is all worth nothing as long as I see Mordecai the Jew just sitting there at the palace gate.”So Haman’s wife, Zeresh, and all his friends suggested,“ Set up a sharpened pole that stands seventy five feet tall, and in the morning ask the king to impale Mordecai on it. When this is done, you can go on your merry way to the banquet with the king.” This pleased Haman, and he ordered the pole set up.

A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.

You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it.And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong— you want only what will give you pleasure.You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.Do you think the Scriptures have no meaning? They say that God is passionate that the spirit he has placed within us should be faithful to him.And he gives grace generously. As the Scriptures say,“ God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Afterward Mordecai returned to the palace gate, but Haman hurried home dejected and completely humiliated.
