亞哈回答她說：“因為我對耶斯列人拿伯說：‘把你的葡萄園讓給我，我付你銀子；或者你喜歡的話，我可以用另一個葡萄園與你交換’；可是他說：‘我不能把我的葡萄園讓給你。’”

他回答说：“因我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘你将你的葡萄园给我，我给你价银，或是你愿意，我就把别的葡萄园换给你’；他却说：‘我不将我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

亚哈回答说：“我要耶斯列人拿伯将他的葡萄园卖给我，如果他愿意，我也可以用别的葡萄园跟他交换，可是他不肯。”

亞哈回答說：「我要耶斯列人拿伯將他的葡萄園賣給我，如果他願意，我也可以用別的葡萄園跟他交換，可是他不肯。」

他告訴她說：『因為我告訴耶斯列人拿伯說：「你將你的葡萄園給我來換取銀子；或是你若樂意，我就將別的葡萄園換給你」；他卻說：「我不能將我的葡萄園給你」』

曰、我謂耶斯列人拿伯曰、以爾葡萄園給我以易金、或爾欲之、易以他園、彼曰、不以我之葡萄園給爾、

曰、我告耶斯烈人拿泊云、爾之葡萄園、或予以金、或易以他園、任爾所擇。彼曰不以我園予爾。

亞哈謂之曰、我告耶斯烈人拿伯云、以爾葡萄園鬻我、我予爾以金、爾若欲他葡萄園、我則予爾以易之、彼曰、我不以我葡萄園予爾、

He answered her,“ Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite,‘ Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

He answered her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said,‘ Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”

And he said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

“ I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him,‘ Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him: Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place. But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ He answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

但那些想要發財的人，就落在試探中和陷阱裡；又落在許多無知而有害的私慾裡，使人沉淪在敗壞和滅亡中；因為貪財是萬惡之根。有人貪愛錢財，就被引誘離開真道，用許多痛苦把自己刺透了。

亞哈對拿伯說：“把你的葡萄園讓給我，我可以用作菜園，因為你的葡萄園靠近我的王宮。我要把一個更好的葡萄園與你交換。如果你喜歡，我也可以按市價給你銀子。”可是拿伯對亞哈說：“耶和華絕對不容許我把祖業給你。”亞哈因為耶斯列人拿伯對他說：“我不能把祖業給你”，就悶悶不樂回到宮裡。他躺在床上，臉朝向內，也不吃飯。

那天哈曼心裡快樂，高高興興地出來；但是哈曼見了末底改在御門那裡不站起來，也不因哈曼的緣故而退避，哈曼心裡就對末底改充滿忿怒。哈曼忍住怒氣，回家去了，就派人去請他的朋友和妻子細利斯來。哈曼把他的富貴榮華、兒女的眾多，以及王怎樣使他尊大，怎樣抬舉他在王的眾領袖和眾臣僕之上的一切事，都數說給他們聽。哈曼又說：“王后以斯帖除我以外，沒有邀請別人與王一同去赴她預備的筵席；明天又邀請我與王一同到她那裡去赴席。只是每逢我看見坐在朝門那裡的猶大人末底改的時候，這一切對我都沒有多大的意思。”他的妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友都對他說：“叫人立一個二十二公尺高的木架，明早求王，把末底改掛在上面，然後你可以歡歡喜喜地與王一同赴筵席了。”這話使哈曼很滿意，就叫人做了木架。

心裡平靜，可使身體健康；但嫉妒能使骨頭朽爛。

你們放縱貪慾，如果得不到，就殺人；你們嫉妒，如果一無所得，就打鬥爭執。你們得不到，因為你們不求；你們求也得不到，因為你們的動機不良，要把所得的耗費在你們的私慾上。淫亂的人哪，你們不知道與世俗為友，就是與神為敵嗎？所以與世俗為友的，就成了神的仇敵。聖經說：“神愛他那安置在我們裡面的靈，愛到嫉妒的地步”（或譯：“神安置在我們裡面的靈，愛到嫉妒的地步”），你們想這話是徒然的嗎？但神所賜的恩更大；所以聖經上說：“神對抗驕傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人。”你們應當順服神，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就逃避你們。

末底改仍回到御門那裡；哈曼卻急急忙忙回了家，帶著悲哀的心蒙著頭。
