亞哈回答說：「我要耶斯列人拿伯將他的葡萄園賣給我，如果他願意，我也可以用別的葡萄園跟他交換，可是他不肯。」

他回答说：“因我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘你将你的葡萄园给我，我给你价银，或是你愿意，我就把别的葡萄园换给你’；他却说：‘我不将我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

他对王后说：“我向耶斯列人拿伯说：‘把你的葡萄园按价钱卖给我，或是你愿意，我可以把别的葡萄园换给你。’他却说：‘我不把我的葡萄园给你。’”

曰、我告耶斯烈人拿泊云、爾之葡萄園、或予以金、或易以他園、任爾所擇。彼曰不以我園予爾。

亞哈謂之曰、我告耶斯烈人拿伯云、以爾葡萄園鬻我、我予爾以金、爾若欲他葡萄園、我則予爾以易之、彼曰、我不以我葡萄園予爾、

He answered her,“ Because I said to Naboth the Jezreelite,‘ Sell me your vineyard; or if you prefer, I will give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

He answered her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth from Jezreel. I said,‘ Sell me your vineyard. Or, if you prefer, I’ll give you another vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t sell you my vineyard.’ ”

And he said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money, or else, if it please you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

“ I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her.

“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite,” he replied.“ I told him,‘ Give me your vineyard for silver, or if you wish, I will give you a vineyard in its place.’ But he said,‘ I won’t give you my vineyard!’”

So he said to her,“ It is because I was speaking to Naboth the Jezreelite and saying to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you a vineyard in place of it.’ But he said,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’ ”

He said to her,“ Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite, and said to him,‘ Give me your vineyard for money; or else, if it pleases you, I will give you another vineyard for it.’ And he answered,‘ I will not give you my vineyard.’”

And he said unto her, Because I spake unto Naboth the Jezreelite, and said unto him, Give me thy vineyard for money; or else, if it please thee, I will give thee another vineyard for it: and he answered, I will not give thee my vineyard.

那些渴望發財的人卻陷入誘惑、網羅和許多愚蠢有害的慾望中，以致落入敗壞和滅亡中。貪財是萬惡之根，有人因為貪財就離棄了信仰，結果飽嚐種種錐心般的痛苦。

一天，亞哈對拿伯說：「你的葡萄園靠近我的王宮，你把它讓給我作菜園吧。我可以用更好的葡萄園來跟你交換，如果你願意，我也可以按地價付你錢。」拿伯說：「耶和華不准我把祖先的產業給你。」亞哈不能如願，就悶悶不樂地回到宮中，躺在床上生氣，飯也不吃。

那天哈曼出來，心中歡喜快樂。但他看見末底改在宮門前既不起身，也不對他表示畏懼，心中十分惱火。哈曼忍怒回到家中，把朋友和妻子細利斯叫來，向他們誇耀自己的榮華富貴和兒孫滿堂，以及王怎樣擢升他，使他位極人臣。哈曼又說：「還有，以斯帖王后只請了我隨王赴她預備的宴席。她還請我明天隨王赴宴。但只要我看見猶太人末底改坐在宮門口，這一切對我都毫無意義。」他妻子細利斯和他所有的朋友對他說：「你可以叫人做一個二十三米高的木架，明天早上求王將末底改吊在上面，然後你可以快樂地隨王去赴宴。」哈曼喜歡這個提議，就叫人做了木架。

心平氣和，滋潤生命；妒火中燒，啃蝕骨頭。

你們貪心，得不到就去殺人。你們嫉妒，得不到就爭吵、打鬥。你們得不到是因為你們不向上帝祈求。你們求也得不到是因為你們動機不純，只求享樂和滿足自己的慾望。你們這些對主不忠的人啊，難道還不明白與世俗為友就是與上帝爲敵嗎？所以，凡是與世俗為友的，都是上帝的敵人。聖經上說：「上帝所賜、住在我們心裡的聖靈深願我們完全屬於祂。」你們以為這是空談嗎？但上帝賜給我們更大的恩典，所以聖經上說：「上帝阻擋驕傲的人，恩待謙卑的人。」因此，你們要服從上帝，抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼必逃離你們。

之後，末底改回到宮門那裡，哈曼卻悲傷地蒙著頭匆匆回家去了。
