“ Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? I will not bring the disaster during his lifetime, because he has humbled himself before me. I will bring the disaster on his house during his son’s lifetime.”

“ Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day, but I will bring it on his house in the days of his son.”

“ Have you seen how Ahab has made himself humble in my sight? Because he has done that, I will not bring trouble on him while he lives. But I will bring it on his royal house when his son is king.”

“ Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son’s days I will bring the disaster upon his house.”

“ Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has done this, I will not do what I promised during his lifetime. It will happen to his sons; I will destroy his dynasty.”

“ Do you see how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; I will bring the disaster upon his house in his son’s days.”

“ See how Ahab has humbled himself before Me? Because he has humbled himself before Me, I will not bring the calamity in his days. In the days of his son I will bring the calamity on his house.”

Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me? because he humbleth himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but in his son’s day will I bring the evil upon his house.

“ Have you noticed how Ahab shows remorse before me? Because he shows remorse before me, I will not bring disaster on his dynasty during his lifetime, but during the reign of his son.”

“ See how Ahab humbles himself before me? Because he humbles himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; but I will bring the evil on his house in his son’s day.”

Jehu said to Bidkar his aide,“ Pick him up and throw him on the plot of ground belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite. For remember when you and I were riding side by side behind his father Ahab, and the LORD uttered this pronouncement against him:‘ As surely as I saw the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons yesterday’— this is the LORD’s declaration—‘ so will I repay you on this plot of land’— this is the LORD’s declaration. So now, according to the word of the LORD, pick him up and throw him on the plot of land.”

The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance.

Foreigners submit to me cringing; as soon as they hear they obey me.

Say to God,“ How awe-inspiring are your works! Your enemies will cringe before you because of your great strength.

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth.

Who is a God like you, forgiving iniquity and passing over rebellion for the remnant of his inheritance? He does not hold on to his anger forever because he delights in faithful love.

So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and told him,“ This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, that they may worship me.

So Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel— all his great men, close friends, and priests— leaving him no survivors.

When he killed some of them, the rest began to seek him; they repented and searched for God.They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their Redeemer.But they deceived him with their mouths, they lied to him with their tongues,their hearts were insincere toward him, and they were unfaithful to his covenant.

and he said,“ Throw her down!” So they threw her down, and some of her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses, and Jehu rode over her.Then he went in, ate and drank, and said,“ Take care of this cursed woman and bury her, since she’s a king’s daughter.”But when they went out to bury her, they did not find anything but the skull, the feet, and the hands.So they went back and told him, and he said,“ This fulfills the LORD’s word that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite:‘ In the plot of land at Jezreel, the dogs will eat Jezebel’s flesh.Jezebel’s corpse will be like manure on the surface of the ground in the plot of land at Jezreel so that no one will be able to say: This is Jezebel.’”Since Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria, Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to the guardians of Ahab’s sons, saying:Your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots, horses, a fortified city, and weaponry, so when this letter arrivesselect the most qualified of your master’s sons, set him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.However, they were terrified and reasoned,“ Look, two kings couldn’t stand against him; how can we?”So the overseer of the palace, the overseer of the city, the elders, and the guardians sent a message to Jehu:“ We are your servants, and we will do whatever you tell us. We will not make anyone king. Do whatever you think is right.”Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying: If you are on my side, and if you will obey me, bring me the heads of your master’s sons at this time tomorrow at Jezreel. All seventy of the king’s sons were being cared for by the city’s prominent men.When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered all seventy, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.

“ Now as for you, son of man, say to the house of Israel,‘ You have said this:“ Our transgressions and our sins are heavy on us, and we are wasting away because of them! How then can we survive?”’Tell them,‘ As I live— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked person should turn from his way and live. Repent, repent of your evil ways! Why will you die, house of Israel?’

Don’t you see how they behave in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

Or do you despise the riches of his kindness, restraint, and patience, not recognizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

Turning to the woman, he said to Simon,“ Do you see this woman? I entered your house; you gave me no water for my feet, but she, with her tears, has washed my feet and wiped them with her hair.
