大衛對比錄人臨門的兒子利甲及其兄弟巴拿說：「我憑救我脫離一切危難的永活的耶和華起誓，在洗革拉曾有人向我報信說掃羅死了，他以為是來報喜訊，我抓住他，把他殺了。那就是我給他的報酬。更何況你們這些惡徒在這個無辜人的家裡把他殺死在床上，我怎能不向你們討這血債，把你們從世上除掉？」於是，大衛命令部下殺了他們，斬斷他們的手腳，把屍體掛在希伯崙的池旁。他們把伊施波設的頭顱葬在希伯崙押尼珥的墳墓裡。

他們明知，按上帝公義的法則，做這些事的人該死，不但執迷不悟，還喜歡別人跟他們同流合污。
