即或不然，王啊，願你知道、我們也決不事奉你的神，不向你所立的金像下拜。』那時尼布甲尼撒烈怒氣填胸，向沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌變了臉色，應時吩咐人把窰燒熱，比平常的、熱七倍。又吩咐他軍隊中幾個有經驗的勇士將沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌捆起來，扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中。這三人是穿戴着外衣、褲子、裹頭巾、和別的衣服被捆起來，扔在烈火燃燒着的窰中的。因為王的命令緊急，窰又非常的熱，以致火燄竟將那些把沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌抬上去的人、都給燒死了。沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌這三個人落在烈火燃燒着的窰中，都是被捆着的。那時尼布甲尼撒王忽感驚奇，很緊張地站起來，應時問大臣們說：『我們捆起來扔在火裏的不是三個人麼？』他們回答王說：『王啊，準準是的。』王應時說：『哎呀，我卻見了四個人、並沒有被捆綁着，在火中走來走去，也沒有受損傷；那第四個的相貌還好像神子呢。』

『審判案件時、你不可行不公道的事；不可徇窮困人的情面，也不可看重大人物的情面；只要按公義審判你的同伴。

眾民陰謀要害撒迦利亞，就照王所吩咐的在永恆主之殿的院子、扔石頭把他砍死。

以法蓮欺壓人，蹂躪是非；因為他情願隨從虛空神。

因為你守了暗利的規例和亞哈家一切所行的，按照他們的計畫去行，好叫我使你荒涼，使你的居民被嗤笑；你們也必擔受萬族之民的羞辱。』

王就對侍立左右的衛兵說：『你們轉身去把永恆主的祭司殺死；因為他們也和大衛攜手；他們知道大衛逃跑，也沒有向我披露。』掃羅的臣僕卻不情願伸手把永恆主的祭司殺掉。

『不可散佈虛謊的傳聞，也不可跟惡人連手去作強暴事的見證。不可隨眾行壞事；不可在爭訟的事上隨眾偏行，作證屈枉正直；

耶戶又給他們寫了第二封信，說：『你們若擁護我，聽從我的話，那麼明天大約這時候、你們要將你們主上的兒子那些人的頭取下來，帶到耶斯列來見我。』那時王的兒子七十人都住在城裏的大人們、將王子養大的、那些人家裏。信一到了他們那裏，他們就把王的兒子七十個人宰殺了，將他們的頭裝在簍子裏，送到耶斯列耶戶那裏。

但是彼得約翰卻回答他們說：『聽你們、過於聽上帝，這在上帝面前對不對，你們自己判斷吧。

但是助產婦敬畏上帝，不照埃及王所吩咐的去作，竟讓男孩子活着。

他們因為夢中得了神諭不要折回去見希律，就從別條路回自己地方去了。
