即或不然，王啊，你要明白，我們也不會事奉你的神明或祭拜你立的金像。」尼布甲尼撒怒氣填胸，向沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌大發雷霆，下令將火窯燒得比平時熱七倍，又命令軍中的勇士將沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌綁起來，扔進烈焰熊熊的火窯。這三人穿著外袍、褲子等衣物，戴著頭巾，被綁著扔進烈焰熊熊的火窯。因為王的命令緊急，窯燒得非常熱，火焰燒死了那些抬沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的人。沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌三人被綁著落入烈焰熊熊的火窯。這時，尼布甲尼撒王驚奇地跳起來，問謀士：「我們綁起來扔進火裡的不是三個人嗎？」他們答道：「王啊，是的。」王說：「看啊，我見有四個人在火中走來走去，沒有被綁著，也沒有被燒傷，第四個人的面貌好像神明的兒子。」

不可徇私枉法，不可偏袒窮人，不可諂媚權貴之人，要秉公審判。

他們想謀害撒迦利亞，就照著王的命令，在耶和華殿的院子裡用石頭打死了他。

以法蓮因甘願追隨偶像而受欺壓，被審判壓碎。

因為你遵守暗利的惡規，效法亞哈家的惡行，隨從他們的計謀，所以我要使你荒涼，讓你的居民成為笑柄。你們要蒙受列國的羞辱。」

他就命令身旁的護衛，說：「把這些耶和華的祭司殺掉，因為他們跟大衛同謀，明知道大衛在潛逃，卻不來告訴我。」掃羅的臣僕不願意下手殺害耶和華的祭司。

「不可散佈謠言，也不可與惡人一起作偽證陷害別人。不可隨眾行惡。在法庭作證時不可附和多數人，顛倒是非。

耶戶又寫了一封信，說：「如果你們歸順我，願意聽從我，明天這個時候，帶著你們主人子孫的首級來耶斯列見我。」當時亞哈的七十個子孫都養在城中顯貴的府中。這些顯貴們接到信後，便殺了亞哈的七十個子孫，把他們的首級放在籃子裡，送到耶斯列的耶戶那裡。

但彼得和約翰答道：「要我們聽從你們而不聽從上帝，這在上帝看來合理嗎？你們自己想想吧。

但這兩個接生婆敬畏上帝，沒有執行王的命令，而是保留了男嬰的性命。

他們在夢中得到指示不可回希律那裡，便改道返回了家鄉。
