By the word of the Lord one of the company of the prophets said to his companion,“ Strike me with your weapon,” but he refused.

There was a group of people called the group of the prophets. A message from the Lord came to one of their members. He said to his companion,“ Strike me down with your weapon.” But he wouldn’t do it.

Meanwhile, the Lord instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man,“ Hit me!” But the man refused to hit the prophet.

One of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow prophet by the word of the LORD,“ Strike me!” But the man refused to strike him.

Now a man from the sons of the prophets said to another by the word of the Lord,“ Please strike me.” But the man refused to strike him.

Now a certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his neighbor by the word of the Lord,“ Strike me, please.” And the man refused to strike him.

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his fellow by the word of Jehovah, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

One of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow prophet by the word of the Lord,“ Strike me!” But the man refused to strike him.

And a certain man of the sons of the prophets said unto his neighbour in the word of the LORD, Smite me, I pray thee. And the man refused to smite him.

One of the members of the prophetic guild, speaking with divine authority, ordered his companion,“ Wound me!” But the man refused to wound him.

A certain man of the sons of the prophets said to his fellow by Yahweh’s word,“ Please strike me!” The man refused to strike him.

Now when the sons of the prophets who were at Jericho saw him opposite them, they said,“ The spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed to the ground before him.

for it was said to me by the word of the Lord,‘ You shall neither eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.’”And he said to him,“ I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But he lied to him.

Thus the Lord said to me:“ Make yourself straps and yoke-bars, and put them on your neck.Send word to the king of Edom, the king of Moab, the king of the sons of Ammon, the king of Tyre, and the king of Sidon by the hand of the envoys who have come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.

And a man of the place answered,“ And who is their father?” Therefore it became a proverb,“ Is Saul also among the prophets?”

And you, take an iron griddle, and place it as an iron wall between you and the city; and set your face toward it, and let it be in a state of siege, and press the siege against it. This is a sign for the house of Israel.

And Elisha came again to Gilgal when there was a famine in the land. And as the sons of the prophets were sitting before him, he said to his servant,“ Set on the large pot, and boil stew for the sons of the prophets.”

And behold, a man of God came out of Judah by the word of the Lord to Bethel. Jeroboam was standing by the altar to make offerings.And the man cried against the altar by the word of the Lord and said,“ O altar, altar, thus says the Lord:‘ Behold, a son shall be born to the house of David, Josiah by name, and he shall sacrifice on you the priests of the high places who make offerings on you, and human bones shall be burned on you.’”

Behold, I and the children whom the Lord has given me are signs and portents in Israel from the Lord of hosts, who dwells on Mount Zion.

And the sons of the prophets who were in Bethel came out to Elisha and said to him,“ Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he said,“ Yes, I know it; keep quiet.”Elijah said to him,“ Elisha, please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to Jericho.” But he said,“ As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So they came to Jericho.The sons of the prophets who were at Jericho drew near to Elisha and said to him,“ Do you know that today the Lord will take away your master from over you?” And he answered,“ Yes, I know it; keep quiet.”Then Elijah said to him,“ Please stay here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” But he said,“ As the Lord lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you.” So the two of them went on.Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood at some distance from them, as they both were standing by the Jordan.

at that time the Lord spoke by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying,“ Go, and loose the sackcloth from your waist and take off your sandals from your feet,” and he did so, walking naked and barefoot.Then the Lord said,“ As my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years as a sign and a portent against Egypt and Cush,

Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha,“ Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.”

Then Jesus told his disciples,“ If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.

Then Amos answered and said to Amaziah,“ I was no prophet, nor a prophet’s son, but I was a herdsman and a dresser of sycamore figs.

Then he found another man and said,“ Strike me, please.” And the man struck him— struck him and wounded him.So the prophet departed and waited for the king by the way, disguising himself with a bandage over his eyes.
