亞述王聞古實王特哈迦來攻、則遣使至希西家曰、

亞述王遣臘沙基統率大軍、自拉吉至耶路撒冷、攻希西家王、漂工有田、田間有道、近於上沼之溝、師徒既至、立於其側、其時理家事者希勒家子以利亞金繕寫設拿、史官亞薩子約亞俱出、臘沙基曰、爾當告希西家亞述大王云、爾誰恃、爾自以為智勇兼全、善於戰鬥、此第誇張之詞耳、爾何所恃而逆我乎、爾於埃及王、倚之若杖、不知彼猶已折之萑葦、按手其上、必為所刺、凡倚埃及王法老者亦若是、抑爾言恃爾上帝耶和華、何希西家廢其崇邱、去其祭壇、命猶大及耶路撒冷之民、惟在一臺崇拜乎、今當以人質於我主亞述王、則我予爾馬二千匹、爾能使人乘之否、不能、曷能禦我主之僕、武士長至微之一乎、然則爾恃埃及、欲得車馬、亦奚以為、昔耶和華命我曰、當滅斯國、今我來攻斯土。豈非遵命而行乎、以利亞金與設拿、約亞告臘沙基曰、我儕識亞蘭方言、可用之與我語、勿用猶大方言、恐城上之民聞之、臘沙基曰、我主遣我、不第與爾、及爾主言也、亦使我與城上之民言、使彼及爾、自啖其遺溺、臘沙基遂立、用猶大方言、大聲呼曰、亞述大王之言、爾其聽之、勿為希西家所誘、彼不能拯爾、希西家使爾恃耶和華、望其拯爾、及爾城垣、不付於亞述王手、爾勿聽焉、蓋亞述王曰、爾當與我修和、歸誠於我、厥後可各食其葡萄、及無花果、各飲己井之水、迨我遷國、往彼異方、與爾故土相同、有穀有酒、有餅、葡萄園、具備、希西家言、爾必見拯於耶和華、爾勿聽焉、四方民所事之上帝、豈得救其國、脫於亞述王手乎、哈末亞八之上帝安在、西法瓦音之上帝安在、豈得救撒馬利亞邑於我手乎、列國諸上帝中、孰一救其國於我手、是則耶和華、焉能救耶路撒冷於我手乎、民聞是言、不措一詞、蓋王有命、勿應之。理家事希勒家子、以利亞金、繕寫設拿、史官亞薩子約亞、自裂其衣、以臘沙基言反告於王。
