誰有禍患？誰有愁苦？誰有紛爭？誰有怨言？誰無故受傷？誰的眼睛赤紅？就是那些沉湎於酒，常去品嘗調和了的酒的人。你不要看酒怎樣發紅，在杯中怎樣閃爍誘人，喝下去怎樣舒暢，最後它卻像咬你的蛇、像刺你的毒蛇。

看哪！必有人起來攻擊你，但那不是出於我；攻擊你的，必因你仆倒。

淫行、酒和新酒，把人的心奪走了。

邦國啊，如果你的王是個孩童，而你的大臣又一早吃喝宴樂，你就有禍了。邦國啊，如果你的王是貴冑之子，而你的大臣又按時吃喝，為要得力，不為醉酒，你就有福了。

再者，耶和華的話藉著哈尼拿的兒子耶戶先知指責巴沙和他的家，是因為他像耶羅波安的家一樣，行了耶和華看為惡的事，以他手所作的惹耶和華發怒，又因為他擊殺了耶羅波安的家。
