因此永恆主向他的人民發怒，厭惡了他的產業。把他們交於外國人手裏，恨惡他們的人就管轄他們。他們的仇敵壓迫他們，他們就在敵人手下被制伏了。永恆主多次援救了他們，他們卻計謀着悖逆，就因他們自己的罪罰而被降低。

亞撒向永恆主他的上帝呼求說：『永恆主啊，在強盛者與軟弱無力者之間，除了你以外是沒有幫助者的。永恆主我們的上帝啊，求你幫助我們；因為我們依靠着你，我們奉你的名去對付這蜂擁軍兵。永恆主啊，你才是我們的上帝；不要讓人有把握勝過你哦。』

約拿單對拿軍器的青年護兵說：『來，我們過去、到這些沒有受割禮的人的駐防營那裏去吧；或者永恆主能為我們作一件事，因為永恆主拯救人、是不受人多或人少所牽制的。』
