“ But who will do this?” asked Ahab. The prophet replied,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ The junior officers under the provincial commanders will do it.’”“ And who will start the battle?” he asked. The prophet answered,“ You will.”

“ But who will do it?” Ahab asked. The prophet answered,“ The Lord says,‘ The junior officers who are under the area commanders will do it.’ ”“ And who will start the battle?” Ahab asked. The prophet answered,“ You will.”

And Ahab said,“ By whom?” He said,“ Thus says the Lord, By the servants of the governors of the districts.” Then he said,“ Who shall begin the battle?” He answered,“ You.”

Ahab asked,“ How will he do it?” And the prophet replied,“ This is what the Lord says: The troops of the provincial commanders will do it.”“ Should we attack first?” Ahab asked.“ Yes,” the prophet answered.

Ahab asked,“ By whom?” And the prophet said,“ This is what the LORD says:‘ By the young men of the provincial leaders.’” Then he asked,“ Who is to start the battle?” He said,“ You.”

But Ahab said,“ By whom?” So he said,“ The Lord says this:‘ By the young men of the leaders of the provinces.’ ” Then he said,“ Who will begin the battle?” And he said,“ You will.”

So Ahab said,“ By whom?” And he said,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ By the young leaders of the provinces.’” Then he said,“ Who will set the battle in order?” And he answered,“ You.”

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith Jehovah, By the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall begin the battle? And he answered, Thou.

Ahab asked,“ By whom?” And the prophet said,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ By the young men of the provincial leaders.’” Then he asked,“ Who is to start the battle?” He said,“ You.”

And Ahab said, By whom? And he said, Thus saith the LORD,[ Even] by the young men of the princes of the provinces. Then he said, Who shall order the battle? And he answered, Thou.

Ahab asked,“ By whom will this be accomplished?” He answered,“ This is what the LORD says,‘ By the servants of the district governors.’” Ahab asked,“ Who will launch the attack?” He answered,“ You will.”

Ahab said,“ By whom?” He said,“ Yahweh says,‘ By the young men of the princes of the provinces.’” Then he said,“ Who shall begin the battle?” He answered,“ You.”

於是基甸將三百人分成三隊，把角和空瓶交在每個人手中，瓶內有火把。他對他們說：「看着我，你們要照樣做。看哪，我來到營邊，我怎樣做，你們也要照樣做。我和所有跟隨我的人吹角的時候，你們也要在營的四圍吹角，喊叫：『為耶和華！為基甸！』」基甸和跟隨他的一百人，在半夜之初換崗哨的時候來到營旁。他們就吹角，打破手中的瓶；三隊的人都吹角，打破瓶子。他們左手拿着火把，右手拿着吹的角，喊叫：「耶和華和基甸的刀！」

第七次，僕人說：「看哪，有一小片雲從海裏上來，好像人的手掌那麼大。」以利亞說：「你上去告訴亞哈，當套車下去，免得被雨阻擋。」

亞伯蘭聽見他姪兒被擄去，就把三百一十八個生在他家中、受過訓練的壯丁全都出動去追，一直到但。在夜間，他和他的僕人分隊擊敗了敵人，並且追殺他們，直到大馬士革北邊的何把。他把一切被擄掠的財物奪回，也把他姪兒羅得和他的財物，以及人和婦女都奪回來。
