And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell[ him], Let not him that girdeth on[ his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.

以色列王回答說：“你們去告訴他，佩戴武器的人，不可像解除武器的那樣自誇。”

以色列王回答說：『你們只要說：「才束上武裝的、休要像解掉了的來誇口。」』

以色列王曰、爾告之云、披甲者、勿效卸甲者而誇、

以色列王對曰、卸甲之士可以凱歌、披甲之士勿效之。

以色列王曰、爾曹告之云、方披甲者勿自誇、卸甲者自誇可也、

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him:‘ One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel replied. He said,“ Tell him,‘ Someone who puts his armor on shouldn’t brag like someone who takes it off.’ ”

And the king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Let not him who straps on his armor boast himself as he who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel sent back this answer:“ A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior who has already won.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

Then the king of Israel replied,“ Tell him,‘ He who straps on his weapons had better not boast like one who takes them off.’ ”

So the king of Israel answered and said,“ Tell him,‘ Let not the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armor boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel replied,“ Tell him the one who puts on his battle gear should not boast like one who is taking it off.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”

Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.

Peter answered and said unto him, Though all[ men] shall be offended because of thee,[ yet] will I never be offended.Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

And the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his armourbearer, and said, Come up to us, and we will shew you a thing. And Jonathan said unto his armourbearer, Come up after me: for the LORD hath delivered them into the hand of Israel.And Jonathan climbed up upon his hands and upon his feet, and his armourbearer after him: and they fell before Jonathan; and his armourbearer slew after him.

Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith?[ or] shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake[ itself] against them that lift it up,[ or] as if the staff should lift up[ itself, as if it were] no wood.Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for[ there is] no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.

And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle[ is] the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.

I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race[ is] not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.
