以色列王回答說：“你們去告訴他，佩戴武器的人，不可像解除武器的那樣自誇。”

以色列王说：“你告诉他说，才顶盔贯甲的，休要像摘盔卸甲的夸口。”

以色列王回答说：“你们告诉他说，‘刚束上腰带的，不要像已卸下的那样夸口。’”

以色列王说：“你去告诉便·哈达，叫他别刚穿上盔甲就夸口，打完仗卸下盔甲再夸口吧。”

以色列王說：「你去告訴便·哈達，叫他別剛穿上盔甲就誇口，打完仗卸下盔甲再誇口吧。」

以色列王回答說：『你們只要說：「才束上武裝的、休要像解掉了的來誇口。」』

以色列王曰、爾告之云、披甲者、勿效卸甲者而誇、

以色列王對曰、卸甲之士可以凱歌、披甲之士勿效之。

以色列王曰、爾曹告之云、方披甲者勿自誇、卸甲者自誇可也、

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him:‘ One who puts on his armor should not boast like one who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel replied. He said,“ Tell him,‘ Someone who puts his armor on shouldn’t brag like someone who takes it off.’ ”

And the king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Let not him who straps on his armor boast himself as he who takes it off.’”

The king of Israel sent back this answer:“ A warrior putting on his sword for battle should not boast like a warrior who has already won.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

Then the king of Israel replied,“ Tell him,‘ He who straps on his weapons had better not boast like one who takes them off.’ ”

So the king of Israel answered and said,“ Tell him,‘ Let not the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell him, Let not him that girdeth on his armor boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel answered,“ Say this:‘ Don’t let the one who puts on his armor boast like the one who takes it off.’”

And the king of Israel answered and said, Tell[ him], Let not him that girdeth on[ his harness] boast himself as he that putteth it off.

The king of Israel replied,“ Tell him the one who puts on his battle gear should not boast like one who is taking it off.”

The king of Israel answered,“ Tell him,‘ Don’t let him who puts on his armor brag like he who takes it off.’”

不要為明日自誇，因為今天要發生甚麼事，你尚且不知道。

彼得對他說：“就算所有的人都因你的緣故後退，我卻永不後退。”耶穌對他說：“我實在告訴你，今天晚上雞叫以前，你會三次不認我。”彼得對他說：“就算必須與你一同死，我也決不會不認你。”門徒也都這樣說。

駐軍中有人應聲對約拿單和替他拿武器的人說：“你們上我們這裡來吧！我們有一件事要告訴你們。”約拿單對替他拿武器的人說：“你跟我上去，因為耶和華已經把他們交在以色列人的手裡了。”約拿單手腳並用地爬了上去，替他拿武器的人跟著他。非利士人在約拿單面前倒下，替他拿武器的也跟在後面把他們殺死。

斧頭怎可以向用斧頭砍木的人自誇呢？鋸子怎可以向拉鋸的人自大呢？好比棍能揮動那舉起棍的，又好比杖舉起那不是木頭的。因此，主萬軍之耶和華必打發令人消瘦的病臨到亞述王肥壯的軍人中間，在他的榮耀之下必燃起火燄，如同火燒一樣。

彼得想起耶穌所說的話：“雞叫以前，你會三次不認我”，他就出去痛哭。

約拿單對替他拿武器的僕人說：“來！我們過到這些未受割禮的人的駐軍那裡去，也許耶和華會為我們動工，因為不論人多或人少，都不能妨礙耶和華施行拯救。”

那非利士人又對大衛說：“你到我這裡來吧！我要把你的肉給空中的飛鳥和田野的走獸吃。”大衛回答那非利士人：“你來攻擊我是靠刀、靠矛、靠槍，但我來攻擊你是靠萬軍之耶和華的名；萬軍之耶和華就是你所辱罵的以色列軍隊的神。今天耶和華要把你交在我手裡，我必擊殺你，砍下你的頭。今天我還要把非利士人軍隊的屍體給空中的飛鳥和地上的野獸吃。這樣，全地的人就都知道以色列中有一位神。也使這些人群都知道，耶和華拯救人不是靠刀，不是靠槍，因為戰爭的勝敗在於耶和華，他必把你們交在我們的手裡。”

我又看見在日光之下，跑得快的未必得獎，勇士未必戰勝，智慧的未必得糧食，精明的未必致富，博學的未必得人賞識，因為時機和際遇左右眾人。
