And the children of Israel cried unto Jehovah: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

And it came to pass after this, that Benhadad king of Syria gathered all his host, and went up, and besieged Samaria.And there was a great famine in Samaria: and, behold, they besieged it, until an ass’s head was sold for fourscore pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove’s dung for five pieces of silver.And as the king of Israel was passing by upon the wall, there cried a woman unto him, saying, Help, my lord, O king.And he said, If Jehovah do not help thee, whence shall I help thee? out of the threshing- floor, or out of the winepress?And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, This woman said unto me, Give thy son, that we may eat him to- day, and we will eat my son to- morrow.So we boiled my son, and did eat him: and I said unto her on the next day, Give thy son, that we may eat him; and she hath hid her son.

But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, and it shall devour the palaces of Ben- hadad.

By thy servants hast thou defied the Lord, and hast said, With the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice fir- trees thereof; and I will enter into its farthest height, the forest of its fruitful field;

And they went out at noon. But Ben- hadad was drinking himself drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.

Thou, O king, art king of kings, unto whom the God of heaven hath given the kingdom, the power, and the strength, and the glory;

And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of Goiim,that they made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela( the same is Zoar).All these joined together in the vale of Siddim( the same is the Salt Sea).Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth- karnaim, and the Zuzim in Ham, and the Emim in Shaveh- kiriathaim,
