“ And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will not put you to death by the sword.’

“ Don’t forget that Shimei, the son of Gera, is still around. He’s from Bahurim in the territory of Benjamin. Shimei cursed me bitterly. He did it on the day I went to Mahanaim. Later, he came down to welcome me at the Jordan River. At that time I made a promise in the name of the Lord. I promised Shimei,‘ I won’t put you to death with my sword.’

And there is also with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse on the day when I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And remember Shimei son of Gera, the man from Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was fleeing to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I swore by the Lord that I would not kill him.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the LORD,‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And behold, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera the Benjaminite, of Bahurim; now it was he who cursed me with a painful curse on the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And see, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a malicious curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I sware to him by Jehovah, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And, behold,[ thou hast] with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Note well, you still have to contend with Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who tried to call down upon me a horrible judgment when I went to Mahanaim. He came down and met me at the Jordan, and I solemnly promised him by the LORD,‘ I will not strike you down with the sword.’

“ Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by Yahweh, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

大衛王來到巴戶琳，忽見有一個人從那裏出來，是屬掃羅家的族系，名叫示每，是基拉的兒子：他一面走，一面咒罵；又拿石頭打大衛和大衛王所有的臣僕：眾民和眾勇士都在王左右。示每咒罵的時候是這樣說的：他說：『你這流人血的人哪，你這無賴子啊，出走吧，出走吧！你流掃羅全家的血，接替他作王：永恆主把這罪歸在你身上，將王權交給你兒子押沙龍；看哪，你已在你自己的惡作劇中了，因為你是流人血的人。』

屬巴戶琳的便雅憫人基拉的兒子示每急忙和猶大人一同下去迎接大衛王。跟從示每的有一千人、都是屬於便雅憫的；還有掃羅家的僮僕洗巴、和他的十五個兒子、二十個僕人跟着他：這些人都衝過約但河來到王面前。有人來回地過渡口，渡王的家眷過來，並照王所看為好的去作。當王要過約但河的時候、基拉的兒子示每俯伏在王面前，對王說：『當我主我王出耶路撒冷那一天，你僕人所行悖逆的事，願我主我王不要歸罪於我，不要惦念，而使王放在心上。僕人自知有罪；所以你看，約瑟全家之中、今天就是我首先下來迎接我主我王。』洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩應聲地說：『示每既曾咒罵了永恆主所膏立的，豈不應當因此而被處死麼？』大衛說：『洗魯雅的兒子啊，你們與我就不同意了，所以你們今天才跟我作對啊。今天在以色列中豈可有一個人被處死呢？我豈不知我今天還作以色列的王麼？』於是王對示每說：『你一定不會被處死。』王並且向他起誓。

又指着永活的永恆主來起誓，憑忠誠公平公義來起誓，那麼列國就必靠着永恆主而給自己祝福，也必因着他而誇耀了。』

王打發人將示每召來，對他說：『你要在耶路撒冷建造房屋，住在那裏；不可出那裏、到任何別的地方去。你要確實知道：你哪一天出來、過汲淪谿谷，你哪一天就必須死；流你血的罪就歸到你自己頭上。』示每對王說：『這話很好；我主我王怎麼說，你僕人就怎麼作好啦。』於是示每住在耶路撒冷許多日子。過了三年、示每有兩個僕人逃到迦特王瑪迦的兒子亞吉那裏；有人告訴示每說：『看哪，你的僕人在迦特呢。』示每就起來，把驢豫備好了，往迦特到亞吉那裏去找他的僕人；示每竟然去了，又從迦特將他僕人帶回來。有人告訴所羅門說：示每從耶路撒冷往迦特去，又回來呢。』王就打發人將示每召了來，對他說：『我豈不是叫你指着永恆主來起誓，我並且警告你說：「你要切實知道你哪一天出去到任何別的地方，你哪一天就必須死」，而你也對我說過：「這話很好，我聽從就是」麼？你為甚麼不遵守你對永恆主所起的誓，也不遵守我所吩咐關於你的命令呢？』王又對示每說：『你自己知道你對我父親大衛所行過的一切壞事、你心裏知道永恆主必使你作的壞事都歸到你自己頭上。但是所羅門王卻必蒙祝福，大衛的王位必在永恆主面前得堅立到永遠。』於是王吩咐耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，比拿雅就出去、把示每殺掉，示每就死了。這樣、國權就在所羅門手中得堅立了。
