“ And remember, you have with you Shimei son of Gera, the Benjamite from Bahurim, who called down bitter curses on me the day I went to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will not put you to death by the sword.’

“ Don’t forget that Shimei, the son of Gera, is still around. He’s from Bahurim in the territory of Benjamin. Shimei cursed me bitterly. He did it on the day I went to Mahanaim. Later, he came down to welcome me at the Jordan River. At that time I made a promise in the name of the Lord. I promised Shimei,‘ I won’t put you to death with my sword.’

And there is also with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse on the day when I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And remember Shimei son of Gera, the man from Bahurim in Benjamin. He cursed me with a terrible curse as I was fleeing to Mahanaim. When he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, I swore by the Lord that I would not kill him.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the LORD,‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And behold, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera the Benjaminite, of Bahurim; now it was he who cursed me with a painful curse on the day I went to Mahanaim. But when he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

“ And see, you have with you Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite from Bahurim, who cursed me with a malicious curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by the Lord, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

And, behold, there is with thee Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I sware to him by Jehovah, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Keep an eye on Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim who is with you. He uttered malicious curses against me the day I went to Mahanaim. But he came down to meet me at the Jordan River, and I swore to him by the Lord:‘ I will never kill you with the sword.’

And, behold,[ thou hast] with thee Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite of Bahurim, which cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim: but he came down to meet me at Jordan, and I sware to him by the LORD, saying, I will not put thee to death with the sword.

“ Note well, you still have to contend with Shimei son of Gera, the Benjaminite from Bahurim, who tried to call down upon me a horrible judgment when I went to Mahanaim. He came down and met me at the Jordan, and I solemnly promised him by the LORD,‘ I will not strike you down with the sword.’

“ Behold, there is with you Shimei the son of Gera, the Benjamite, of Bahurim, who cursed me with a grievous curse in the day when I went to Mahanaim; but he came down to meet me at the Jordan, and I swore to him by Yahweh, saying,‘ I will not put you to death with the sword.’

大衛王來到巴戶琳的時候，忽然有一人從那裡出來，他是屬掃羅家族的，名叫示每，是基拉的兒子。他一邊出來，一邊咒罵；又拿石頭投擲大衛和大衛王所有的臣僕，那時眾人和眾勇士都在王的左右。示每咒罵的時候，這樣說：“你這流人血的人啊，滾開！你這無賴啊，滾開！你流了掃羅全家的血，接替掃羅作王，耶和華已經把這罪報應在你身上；耶和華已經把這國交在你兒子押沙龍的手裡。看哪！你現在自取其禍了，因為你是個流人血的人。”

巴戶琳的便雅憫人，基拉的兒子示每，急忙與猶大人一同下去迎接大衛王。與示每同來的有一千便雅憫人，還有掃羅家的僕人洗巴，和他的十五個兒子，以及二十個僕人。他們都衝過約旦河去迎接王。有人渡過渡口，把王的家眷接過去，並且照著王的心意去作。大衛過約旦河的時候，基拉的兒子示每俯伏在王面前，對王說：“我主我王從耶路撒冷出來的那一天，你僕人所犯的錯，現在求我主不要歸罪於我，求你不要記念，求王也不要放在心上。因為你的僕人知道自己犯了罪，所以你看，在約瑟全家之中，今天我是第一個下來迎接我主我王的。”洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩回答說：“示每咒罵了耶和華的受膏者，豈不該因此把他處死嗎？”大衛說：“洗魯雅的兒子們啊，我與你們有甚麼關係呢？今天你們竟與我作對！今天在以色列中，豈可有人被處死呢？難道我不知道今天我作以色列的王嗎？”於是王對示每說：“你一定不會被處死！”王又向他起誓。

如果你憑真理、公正、公義，指著永活的耶和華起誓；列國就必因耶和華蒙福，也必以他為榮。”

王派人去把示每召來，對他說：“你要為自己在耶路撒冷建造一座房屋，住在那裡，不可從那裡出來到任何別的地方去。你必須知道，你哪一天出來，越過汲淪溪，你哪一天就要死。你流人血的罪必歸到你自己的頭上。”示每對王說：“這話很好，我主我王怎麼說，你僕人就照著行。”於是示每在耶路撒冷住了很久。三年以後，示每的兩個僕人逃到迦特王瑪迦的兒子亞吉那裡。有人告訴示每說：“你的僕人在迦特。”於是示每起來，預備好自己的騾子，就往迦特亞吉王那裡去尋找他的僕人。示每去了，又把他的僕人從迦特帶回來。有人告訴所羅門示每離開耶路撒冷往迦特去，又回來了。王就派人把示每召來，對他說：“我不是叫你指著耶和華起誓，並且警告你：‘你必須知道，你哪一天出去到任何別的地方，你哪一天就要死’嗎？你也對我說過：‘這話很好，我必聽從。’現在你為甚麼不遵守你向耶和華所起的誓，和我吩咐你的命令呢？”王又對示每說：“你自己知道你心裡的一切惡事，就是你向我父親大衛所行的；現在耶和華要把你的罪歸到你的頭上。所羅門王卻要蒙福，大衛的王位必在耶和華眼前得堅立，直到永遠。”於是王命令耶何耶大的兒子比拿雅，比拿雅就出去擊殺示每，示每就死了。這樣，所羅門就鞏固了他的國。
