The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab’s position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok the priest.

The king put Benaiah in charge of the army. Benaiah took Joab’s place. The king also put Zadok the priest in Abiathar’s place.

And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed[ him] unto the LORD[ to be] the chief governor, and Zadok[ to be] priest.

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada[ was] over the host: and Zadok and Abiathar[ were] the priests:

He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.

And these[ are] the sons of Aaron; Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,Zadok his son, Ahimaaz his son.

And I will raise me up a faithful priest,[ that] shall do according to[ that] which[ is] in mine heart and in my mind: and I will build him a sure house; and he shall walk before mine anointed for ever.

Eleazar begat Phinehas, Phinehas begat Abishua,And Abishua begat Bukki, and Bukki begat Uzzi,And Uzzi begat Zerahiah, and Zerahiah begat Meraioth,Meraioth begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Ahimaaz,And Ahimaaz begat Azariah, and Azariah begat Johanan,And Johanan begat Azariah,( he[ it is] that executed the priest’s office in the temple that Solomon built in Jerusalem:)And Azariah begat Amariah, and Amariah begat Ahitub,And Ahitub begat Zadok, and Zadok begat Shallum,And Shallum begat Hilkiah, and Hilkiah begat Azariah,And Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak,And Jehozadak went[ into captivity], when the LORD carried away Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.Wherefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:And he shall have it, and his seed after him,[ even] the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

Let his days be few;[ and] let another take his office.
