May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the Lord’s peace forever.”

May Joab and his children after him be held forever accountable for spilling the blood of Abner and Amasa. But may David and his children after him enjoy the Lord’ s peace and rest forever. May the Lord also give his peace to David’s royal house and kingdom forever.”

除掉王面前的惡人，王的寶座就藉著公義而堅立。

事後大衛聽說了，就說：「對於尼珥的兒子押尼珥被殺流血的事，我和我的王國在耶和華面前永遠是清白的。願這罪歸到約押的頭上以及他父親的全家，願約押家不斷有患漏症的、患痲瘋的、拄拐杖的、倒在刀下的和缺乏食物的！」

從耶西的樹墩必發出一個嫩芽，從他的根而出的枝子必結果實。耶和華的靈必停留在那一位身上，就是智慧和悟性的靈，謀略和大能的靈，知識和敬畏耶和華的靈。他以敬畏耶和華為樂，審斷不憑眼見，裁決不憑耳聞。他必以公義審斷貧弱者，以正直裁決世上的卑微人；以口中的杖擊打世界，以嘴裡的氣殺死惡人。公義必作他的束帶，信實必作他的腰帶。狼與小綿羊同住，豹與小山羊同臥，牛犢、少壯獅子和肥畜同群；小孩子要牽引牠們。牛與熊一同吃食，牠們的幼崽一同躺臥；獅子像牛一樣吃乾草。吃奶的嬰兒在虺蛇的洞口玩耍，斷奶的孩子按手在毒蛇的穴上。在我整個聖山上，這一切都不會帶來傷害或毀滅；因為有關耶和華的知識必充滿大地，如同眾水盈滿海洋。

每個清晨，我都要除盡地上的一切惡人，為要從耶和華的城中剪除一切作惡者。
