The Lord will repay him for the blood he shed, because without my father David knowing it he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them— Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army— were better men and more upright than he.

The Lord will pay him back for the blood he spilled. Joab attacked two men. He killed them with his sword. And my father David didn’t even know anything about it. Joab killed Abner, the son of Ner. Abner was the commander of Israel’s army. Joab also killed Amasa, the son of Jether. Amasa was the commander of Judah’s army. Abner and Amasa were better men than Joab is. They were more honest than he is.

The Lord will bring back his bloody deeds on his own head, because, without the knowledge of my father David, he attacked and killed with the sword two men more righteous and better than himself, Abner the son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

The Lord will repay him for the murders of two men who were more righteous and better than he. For my father knew nothing about the deaths of Abner son of Ner, commander of the army of Israel, and of Amasa son of Jether, commander of the army of Judah.

The LORD will bring back his own blood on his head because he struck down two men more righteous and better than he, without my father David’s knowledge. With his sword, Joab murdered Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.

來報復耶路巴力七十個兒子所受暴行的殘害，將流他們血的罪歸於他們的兄弟亞比米勒、就是殺害他們的，也歸於示劍公民、就是加強亞比米勒的手去殺害他弟兄的。

乃是走以色列諸王的路，使猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民變節去服事別的神，像亞哈家使以色列人變了節一樣；你並且殺死了你父親家裏比你好的眾兄弟；

上帝也將示劍人一切壞事都報應在他們頭上；而耶路巴力的兒子約坦的咒詛也歸到他們身上。

他的毒害必回到他自己頭上；他的強暴必落到他自己頭頂。

『並且你也知道洗魯雅的兒子約押向我所行的：他怎樣待以色列的兩個將軍，尼珥的兒子押尼珥、和益帖的兒子亞瑪撒，將他們殺死；怎樣在太平之時報戰時所流之血的仇，使我腰間所束的帶、我腳上所穿的鞋、都染了戰時無辜的血。

何況惡人在義人家裏將他殺在床上，我現在哪有不從你們手裏討流他血的罪，而將你們從地上肅清呢？』

約押對亞瑪撒說：『我兄弟，你好啊！』就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子、要和他親嘴。亞瑪撒沒有提防約押手裏的刀，約押用刀刺入他的五臟，他的腸子流在地上，沒有再刺他，他就死了。約押和他的兄弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。

地開了口，從你手裏收取了你兄弟的血了；如今你，你是受咒詛、須離開這地的。

王又對示每說：『你自己知道你對我父親大衛所行過的一切壞事、你心裏知道永恆主必使你作的壞事都歸到你自己頭上。

那一天、以色列眾民才知道殺死尼珥的兒子押尼珥、並不是出於王的意思。

撒母耳對他說：『今天永恆主從你身上撕去了以色列國，給你鄰近的人、就是比你好的。

約押從大衛那裏出來，就打發差役去追趕押尼珥，差役就從西拉井那裏將他帶回來；大衛卻不知道。押尼珥回到希伯崙，約押領他轉到城門的甕洞裏，彷彿要和他說機密話的樣子，就在那裏刺透他的五臟，他便死了：這是為他兄弟亞撒黑報血仇的。

王若以為好，就請從王面前出一道御旨，寫在波斯瑪代人的法令中，好使永不廢墮；使瓦實提不再到亞哈隨魯王面前；又請王將她的王后位分賜給比她好的人。

押沙龍立了亞瑪撒統領軍隊，去代替約押。亞瑪撒是一個人名叫以實瑪利人以特拉的兒子；以特拉曾經和拿轄的女兒亞比該同床；這亞比該和約押的母親洗魯雅是姐妹。
