And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the blood, which Joab shed without cause, from me and from my father’s house.

這樣，你們就不致玷污你們所居住的土地，因為血會玷污土地。除非用兇手的血作抵償，否則被血玷污的土地無法得到潔淨。

耶和華啊，求你赦免你已經救贖的以色列子民，不要把殺害這無辜之人的罪算在你的子民身上。』這樣，殺人的罪便可得到赦免。你們做耶和華視為正的事，就可以從你們中間除去殺害無辜之人的罪。

倘若是蓄意殺人，就算他逃到我的祭壇那裡，也要把他拉出來處死。

大衛聽到消息就說：「耶和華作證，我和我的人民永遠跟尼珥的兒子押尼珥的死無關。

凡是殺人害命的，無論人或獸，我必向他們追討血債。凡殺人的，我必追討他的血債。凡殺害人的，也必被人殺害，因為人是上帝照著自己的形像造的。

他本城的長老要派人去把他帶回來，交給復仇的人，將他處死。不可憐憫他，要從以色列除掉這種濫殺無辜的罪，這樣你們才會順利。

背負血債者必終生逃亡，誰也不要幫他。

那裡的居民看見毒蛇吊在保羅手上，就交頭接耳地說：「這人一定是個兇手，雖然僥倖沒有淹死，天理卻不容他活下去。」

『我昨天看見拿伯和他兒子們被殺，我必使你在這塊田裡受到報應，這是耶和華說的。』現在你照耶和華的話，把他丟在這塊田裡吧。」
