Then the king said to Abiathar the priest,“ Go back to your home in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not kill you now, because you carried the Ark of the Sovereign Lord for David my father and you shared all his hardships.”

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突归自己的田地去吧！你本是该死的，但因你在我父亲大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，又与我父亲同受一切苦难，所以我今日不杀死你。”

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突归自己的田地去吧！你本是该死的，但因你在我父亲大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，又与我父亲同受一切苦难，所以我今日不杀死你。”

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突的老家去吧。你本是该死的，但我念你在我父大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，曾经与我父亲患难与共，才饶你一命。”

王对亚比亚他祭司说：“你回亚拿突自己的田地去吧！你本来是该死的，但我今天不杀死你，因为你在我父亲大卫面前抬过主耶和华的约柜，又与我父亲同受一切苦难。”

王對祭司亞比亞他說：「你回亞拿突歸自己的田地去吧！你本是該死的，但因你在我父親大衛面前擡過主耶和華的約櫃，又與我父親同受一切苦難，所以我今日不將你殺死。」

王對亞比亞他祭司說：「你回亞拿突歸自己的田地去吧！你本是該死的，但因你在我父親大衛面前抬過主耶和華的約櫃，又與我父親同受一切苦難，所以我今日不殺死你。」

王對亞比亞他祭司說：「你回亞拿突歸自己的田地去吧！你本是該死的，但因你在我父親大衛面前抬過主耶和華的約櫃，又與我父親同受一切苦難，所以我今日不殺死你。」

王對亞比亞他祭司說：「你回亞拿突的老家去吧。你本是該死的，但我念你在我父大衛面前抬過主耶和華的約櫃，曾經與我父親患難與共，才饒你一命。」

王對亞比亞他祭司說：“你回亞拿突自己的田地去吧！你本來是該死的，但我今天不殺死你，因為你在我父親大衛面前抬過主耶和華的約櫃，又與我父親同受一切苦難。”

王也對祭司亞比亞他說：『你往亞拿突、到你自己的田地去吧；你本是該死的人。但今天我不將你殺死，因為你在我父親大衛面前帶過神諭像，又在我父親所受的一切苦難中同受過苦難。』

王謂祭司亞比亞他曰、歸亞拿突、返爾田畝、爾原當死、惟爾在我父大衛前、舁主耶和華之匱、又與我父共苦、此時我不殺爾、

王告祭司亞庇亞塔曰、昔爾舁耶和華上帝之匱、在我父大闢前、恆與我父同憂、今雖當死、我不於此時殺爾、盍歸故土亞拿突。

王謂祭司亞比亞他曰、爾可往亞拿突歸爾田、爾罪當死、因爾昔舁主天主之匱在我父大衛前、恆與我父同受苦難、故我今日不殺爾、

To Abiathar the priest the king said,“ Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign Lord before my father David and shared all my father’s hardships.”

The king spoke to Abiathar the priest. He said,“ Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You should really be put to death. But I won’t have it done now. That’s because you carried the ark of the Lord and King. You did it for my father David. You shared all of his hard times.”

And to Abiathar the priest the king said,“ Go to Anathoth, to your estate, for you deserve death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before David my father, and because you shared in all my father’s affliction.”

The king said to the priest Abiathar,“ Go to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death today, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD in the presence of my father David and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”

Then to Abiathar the priest the king said,“ Go to Anathoth to your own field, for you deserve to die; but I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord God before my father David, and because you were afflicted in everything with which my father was afflicted.”

And to Abiathar the priest the king said,“ Go to Anathoth, to your own fields, for you are deserving of death; but I will not put you to death at this time, because you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and because you were afflicted every time my father was afflicted.”

And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord Jehovah before David my father, and because thou wast afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.

The king said to Abiathar the priest,“ Go to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death today, since you carried the ark of the Lord God in the presence of my father David and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”

And unto Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou[ art] worthy of death: but I will not at this time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou hast been afflicted in all wherein my father was afflicted.

The king then told Abiathar the priest,“ Go back to your property in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but today I will not kill you because you did carry the ark of the sovereign LORD before my father David and you suffered with my father through all his difficult times.”

To Abiathar the priest the king said,“ Go to Anathoth, to your own fields; for you are worthy of death. But I will not at this time put you to death, because you bore the Lord Yahweh’s ark before David my father, and because you were afflicted in all in which my father was afflicted.”

Anathoth, and Almon— four towns.

Only Abiathar, one of the sons of Ahimelech, escaped and fled to David.When he told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord,David exclaimed,“ I knew it! When I saw Doeg the Edomite there that day, I knew he was sure to tell Saul. Now I have caused the death of all your father’s family.Stay here with me, and don’t be afraid. I will protect you with my own life, for the same person wants to kill us both.”

And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests from the town of Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.

Zadok and all the Levites also came along, carrying the Ark of the Covenant of God. They set down the Ark of God, and Abiathar offered sacrifices until everyone had passed out of the city.Then the king instructed Zadok to take the Ark of God back into the city.“ If the Lord sees fit,” David said,“ he will bring me back to see the Ark and the Tabernacle again.But if he is through with me, then let him do what seems best to him.”The king also told Zadok the priest,“ Look, here is my plan. You and Abiathar should return quietly to the city with your son Ahimaaz and Abiathar’s son Jonathan.I will stop at the shallows of the Jordan River and wait there for a report from you.”So Zadok and Abiathar took the Ark of God back to the city and stayed there.

This isn’t good at all! I swear by the Lord that you and your men deserve to die, because you failed to protect your master, the Lord’s anointed! Look around! Where are the king’s spear and the jug of water that were beside his head?”

Scream in terror, you people of Gallim! Shout out a warning to Laishah. Oh, poor Anathoth!

Then David summoned the priests, Zadok and Abiathar, and these Levite leaders: Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.He said to them,“ You are the leaders of the Levite families. You must purify yourselves and all your fellow Levites, so you can bring the Ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it.

Adonijah took Joab son of Zeruiah and Abiathar the priest into his confidence, and they agreed to help him become king.

“ You have stayed with me in my time of trial.

Today he has sacrificed many cattle, fattened calves, and sheep, and he has invited all the king’s sons to attend the celebration. He also invited the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest. They are feasting and drinking with him and shouting,‘ Long live King Adonijah!’

Have you experienced so much for nothing? Surely it was not in vain, was it?

David was furious.“ As surely as the Lord lives,” he vowed,“ any man who would do such a thing deserves to die!

Now when Abiathar son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, he brought the ephod with him.Saul soon learned that David was at Keilah.“ Good!” he exclaimed.“ We’ve got him now! God has handed him over to me, for he has trapped himself in a walled town!”So Saul mobilized his entire army to march to Keilah and besiege David and his men.But David learned of Saul’s plan and told Abiathar the priest to bring the ephod and ask the Lord what he should do.

Then the king appointed Benaiah to command the army in place of Joab, and he installed Zadok the priest to take the place of Abiathar.
