King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why are you asking me to give Abishag, the Shunammite, to Adonijah? You might as well ask me to give him the whole kingdom! After all, he’s my older brother. And he doesn’t want the kingdom only for himself. He also wants it for Abiathar the priest and for Joab, the son of Zeruiah.”

所罗门王对他母亲说：“为何单替他求书念的女子亚比煞呢？也可以为他求国吧！他是我的哥哥，他有祭司亚比亚他和洗鲁雅的儿子约押为辅佐。”

所罗门王回答母亲说：“为何替亚多尼雅求书念女子亚比煞呢？可以为他求王国吧！他是我的兄长，不但为他，也为亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押求吧！”

所罗门王回答母亲说：“为何替亚多尼雅求书念女子亚比煞呢？可以为他求王国吧！他是我的兄长，不但为他，也为亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押求吧！”

所罗门王回答说：“为何只为亚多尼雅求书念女子雅比莎呢？你也为他求整个国家吧！他是我哥哥，又有亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押支持。”

所罗门王回答他母亲，说：“你为什么要为亚多尼雅求书念的女子亚比煞呢？你也可以为他求这个国位，因为他是我的哥哥，又有亚比亚他祭司和洗鲁雅的儿子约押拥护他。”

所羅門王對他母親說：「為何單替他求書念的女子亞比煞呢？也可以為他求國吧！他是我的哥哥，他有祭司亞比亞他和洗魯雅的兒子約押為輔佐。」

所羅門王回答母親說：「為何替亞多尼雅求書念女子亞比煞呢？可以為他求王國吧！他是我的兄長，不但為他，也為亞比亞他祭司和洗魯雅的兒子約押求吧！」

所羅門王回答母親說：「為何替亞多尼雅求書念女子亞比煞呢？可以為他求王國吧！他是我的兄長，不但為他，也為亞比亞他祭司和洗魯雅的兒子約押求吧！」

所羅門王回答他母親，說：“你為甚麼要為亞多尼雅求書念的女子亞比煞呢？你也可以為他求這個國位，因為他是我的哥哥，又有亞比亞他祭司和洗魯雅的兒子約押擁護他。”

所羅門王回答他母親說：『你為甚麼單替亞多尼雅求要書念的女子亞比煞呢？你也為他求王位吧！因為他是我哥哥；而且他也有祭司亞比亞他擁護他，又有洗魯雅的兒子約押擁護他呀！』

王謂母曰、爾為亞多尼雅求書念女亞比煞、曷故、彼為我兄、爾其為之求國、並為祭司亞比亞他、與洗魯雅子約押求之、

所羅門王曰、母為亞多尼雅求予以書念女亞庇煞、果何故歟。彼為我兄、盍求國祚歸之、彼有祭司亞庇亞塔、及西魯雅子約押以為輔翼。

所羅門王謂母曰、母緣何為亞多尼雅獨求書念女亞比煞耶、彼為我兄、可為彼與祭司亞比亞他及西魯雅子約押求國矣、

King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? You might as well request the kingdom for him— after all, he is my older brother— yes, for him and for Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah!”

King Solomon answered his mother,“ And why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also, for he is my older brother, and on his side are Abiathar the priest and Joab the son of Zeruiah.”

“ How can you possibly ask me to give Abishag to Adonijah?” King Solomon demanded.“ You might as well ask me to give him the kingdom! You know that he is my older brother, and that he has Abiathar the priest and Joab son of Zeruiah on his side.”

King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why are you requesting Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my elder brother, you might as well ask the kingship for him, for the priest Abiathar, and for Joab son of Zeruiah.”

But King Solomon answered and said to his mother,“ And why are you requesting Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Request for him the kingdom as well— since he is my older brother— for him, for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah!”

And King Solomon answered and said to his mother,“ Now why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also— for he is my older brother— for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.”

And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he is mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why are you requesting Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Since he is my elder brother, you might as well ask the kingship for him, for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah.”

And king Solomon answered and said unto his mother, And why dost thou ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? ask for him the kingdom also; for he[ is] mine elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.

King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why just request Abishag the Shunammite for him? Since he is my older brother, you should also request the kingdom for him, for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab son of Zeruiah!”

King Solomon answered his mother,“ Why do you ask Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah? Ask for him the kingdom also; for he is my elder brother; even for him, and for Abiathar the priest, and for Joab the son of Zeruiah.”

The third son was Absalom. His mother was Maakah. She was the daughter of Talmai, the king of Geshur. The fourth son was Adonijah. His mother was Haggith.

Nathan said,“ You are my king and master. Have you announced that Adonijah will be king after you? Have you said he will sit on your throne?Today he has gone down outside the city. He has sacrificed large numbers of cattle, fat calves and sheep. He has invited all the king’s sons. He has also invited the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest. Even now they are eating and drinking with him. They are saying,‘ May King Adonijah live a long time!’

“ You don’t know what you’re asking for,” Jesus said.“ Can you drink the cup of suffering I drink? Or can you go through the baptism of suffering I must go through?”

Nathan asked Solomon’s mother Bathsheba,“ Haven’t you heard? Adonijah, the son of Haggith, has made himself king. And King David doesn’t know anything about it.

“ You don’t know what you’re asking for,” Jesus said to them.“ Can you drink the cup of suffering I am going to drink?”“ We can,” they answered.

Adonijah was the son of David and his wife Haggith. He came forward and announced,“ I’m going to be the next king.” So he got chariots and horses ready. He also got 50 men to run in front of him.His father had never tried to stop him from doing what he wanted to. His father had never asked him,“ Why are you acting the way you do?” Adonijah was also very handsome. Now that Absalom was dead, Adonijah was David’s oldest son.Adonijah talked things over with Joab, the son of Zeruiah. He also talked with Abiathar the priest. They agreed to help him.

When you do ask for something, you don’t receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason. You want to spend your money on your sinful pleasures.

I gave you everything that belonged to your master Saul. I even put his wives into your arms. I made you king over all the people of Israel and Judah. And if all of that had not been enough for you, I would have given you even more.

Children were born to him there. They included Shammua, Shobab, Nathan and Solomon. The mother of these four sons was Bathsheba. She was the daughter of Ammiel.
