Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath- sheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

Now Adonijah son of Haggith came to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“ Do you come peacefully?”“ Peacefully,” he replied,

Haggith’s son Adonijah visited Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“ Do you come in peace?” He answered,“ Yes.”

大闢出迓、告曰、如爾心懷平康、欲來助我、則我與爾和好。如欲欺我、付無辜於敵手、則望列祖之上帝、加以督責。武士之魁亞馬賽、為神所感、對曰、我欲歸耶西之子大闢、望上帝祐爾、願爾與助爾者俱獲平康。大闢接之、使為軍長。

哈及所出之子亞多尼雅期許自高、曰、我必為王。遂備車馬、簡僕從五十人、趨承於前。此子乃押沙龍弟、丰采甚都、在昔其父、未嘗詰其所為何事、故不使懷憂。亞多尼雅與西魯雅子約押、及祭司亞庇亞塔私議、欲其相從、以為輔翼。惟祭司撒督、及耶何耶大子庇拿雅、先知拿單、示每、哩以、暨大闢之武士、咸弗協從。亞多尼雅在隱羅結、於鎖希列石上、宰牛羊肥畜、以宴眾兄弟、王之子及王之臣、猶大族眾。惟先知拿單、與庇拿雅、及眾武士、暨弟所羅門、俱不蒙請。

亞多尼雅畏所羅門、往執壇角。或告所羅門曰、亞多尼雅畏所羅門王、自執壇角、曰、願所羅門今日與我發誓、不以刃擊臣。所羅門曰、如其為義士、則彼之髮一毫不隕、若其作惡、則必死亡。所羅門王遣人詣壇、攜亞多尼雅至、伏拜王前、所羅門諭之曰、汝歸可也。
