Haggith’s son Adonijah visited Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“ Do you come in peace?” He answered,“ Yes.”

Now Adonijah, the son of Haggith, went to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. Bathsheba asked him,“ Do you come peacefully?” He answered,“ Yes, peacefully.”

Adonijah was the son of David’s wife Haggith. He went to Bathsheba. She was Solomon’s mother. She asked Adonijah,“ Have you come in peace?” He answered,“ Yes. I’ve come in peace.”

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said,“ Do you come peacefully?” He said,“ Peacefully.”

One day Adonijah, whose mother was Haggith, came to see Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother.“ Have you come with peaceful intentions?” she asked him.“ Yes,” he said,“ I come in peace.

Now Adonijah son of Haggith came to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“ Do you come peacefully?”“ Peacefully,” he replied,

Now Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. So she said,“ Do you come peacefully?” And he said,“ Peacefully.”

Now Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. So she said,“ Do you come peaceably?” And he said,“ Peaceably.”

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bath- sheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

Now Adonijah son of Haggith came to Bathsheba, Solomon’s mother. She asked,“ Do you come peacefully?”“ Peacefully,” he replied,

And Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. And she said, Comest thou peaceably? And he said, Peaceably.

Then Adonijah the son of Haggith came to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. She said,“ Do you come peaceably?” He said,“ Peaceably.

David went out to meet them and said,“ If you come to me in peace and want to help me, then I will make an alliance with you. But if you come to betray me to my enemies when I have not harmed you, may the God of our ancestors take notice and judge!”But a spirit empowered Amasai, the leader of the thirty warriors, and he said:“ We are yours, O David! We support you, O son of Jesse! May you greatly prosper! May those who help you prosper! Indeed your God helps you!” So David accepted them and made them leaders of raiding bands.

Now Adonijah, son of David and Haggith, was promoting himself, boasting,“ I will be king!” He managed to acquire chariots and horsemen, as well as fifty men to serve as his royal guard.( Now his father had never corrected him by saying,“ Why do you do such things?” He was also very handsome and had been born right after Absalom.)He collaborated with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they supported him.But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and David’s elite warriors did not ally themselves with Adonijah.Adonijah sacrificed sheep, cattle, and fattened steers at the Stone of Zoheleth near En Rogel. He invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, as well as all the men of Judah, the king’s servants.But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the elite warriors, or his brother Solomon.

Adonijah feared Solomon, so he got up and went and grabbed hold of the horns of the altar.Solomon was told,“ Look, Adonijah fears you; see, he has taken hold of the horns of the altar, saying,‘ May King Solomon solemnly promise me today that he will not kill his servant with the sword.’”Solomon said,“ If he is a loyal subject, not a hair of his head will be harmed, but if he is found to be a traitor, he will die.”King Solomon sent men to bring him down from the altar. He came and bowed down to King Solomon, and Solomon told him,“ Go home.”

So the horseman went to meet him and said,“ This is what the king says,‘ Is everything all right?’” Jehu replied,“ None of your business! Follow me.” The watchman reported,“ The messenger reached them, but hasn’t started back.”So he sent a second horseman out to them and he said,“ This is what the king says,‘ Is everything all right?’” Jehu replied,“ None of your business! Follow me.”The watchman reported,“ He reached them, but hasn’t started back. The one who drives the lead chariot drives like Jehu son of Nimshi; he drives recklessly.”Jehoram ordered,“ Hitch up my chariot.” When his chariot had been hitched up, King Jehoram of Israel and King Ahaziah of Judah went out in their respective chariots to meet Jehu. They met up with him in the plot of land that had once belonged to Naboth of Jezreel.When Jehoram saw Jehu, he asked,“ Is everything all right, Jehu?” He replied,“ How can everything be all right as long as your mother Jezebel promotes idolatry and pagan practices?”

Samuel did what the LORD told him. When he arrived in Bethlehem, the elders of the city were afraid to meet him. They said,“ Do you come in peace?”He replied,“ Yes, in peace. I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice.” So he consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.

Whenever you enter a house, first say,‘ May peace be on this house!’And if a peace- loving person is there, your peace will remain on him, but if not, it will return to you.
