When the time drew near for David to die, he gave a charge to Solomon his son.

The time came near for David to die. So he gave orders to his son Solomon.

In the presence of God, who gives life to all, and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, I charge you

I consider it right, as long as I am in this bodily tent, to wake you up with a reminder,knowing that I will soon lay aside my tent, as our Lord Jesus Christ has also shown me.And I will also make every effort that you may be able to recall these things at any time after my departure.

This is the blessing that Moses, the man of God, gave the Israelites before his death.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock that the Holy Spirit has appointed you to as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.And men will rise up from your own number with deviant doctrines to lure the disciples into following them.Therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for three years I did not stop warning each one of you with tears.

The Lord commissioned Joshua son of Nun,“ Be strong and courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land I swore to them, and I will be with you.”

I solemnly charge you before God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge the living and the dead, and because of His appearing and His kingdom:

For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time for my departure is close.

But commission Joshua and encourage and strengthen him, for he will cross over ahead of the people and enable them to inherit this land that you will see.’

Timothy, my son, I am giving you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies previously made about you, so that by them you may strongly engage in battle,
