在伯特利的先知門徒出來見以利沙，對他說：“你知道今天耶和華要接你的老師離開你嗎？”他說：“我已經知道了，你們別再多說。”

我本來想把他留在我這裡，使他在我為福音被囚禁時，可以替你服事我。

他們到了撒拉米，就在猶太人的各會堂裡宣講神的道，還有約翰作他們的助手。

耶和華對摩西說：“你要揀選嫩的兒子約書亞，他心裡有聖靈，你要按手在他頭上，叫他站在以利亞撒祭司和全體會眾面前，當他們的面委派他。你要把你的尊榮給他幾分，好叫以色列全體會眾都聽從他。

約沙法說：“這裡不是有一位耶和華的先知嗎？我們可以託他求問耶和華。”以色列王的一位臣僕說：“這裡有沙法的兒子以利沙，他從前是服事以利亞的（“他從前是服事以利亞的”原文作“他從前倒水在以利亞手上”）。”
