So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say,“ May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them.”

希律拿了彼得，收在監裏，交付四班兵丁看守，每班四個人，意思要在逾越節後把他提出來，當着百姓辦他。於是彼得被囚在監裏；教會卻為他切切地禱告神。希律將要提他出來的前一夜，彼得被兩條鐵鍊鎖着，睡在兩個兵丁當中；看守的人也在門外看守。

你辱罵誰？褻瀆誰？揚起聲來，高舉眼目攻擊誰呢？乃是攻擊以色列的聖者！

嗐！你們有話說：「今天明天我們要往某城裏去，在那裏住一年，做買賣得利。」其實明天如何，你們還不知道。你們的生命是甚麼呢？你們原來是一片雲霧，出現少時就不見了。

法老對摩西說：「你離開我去吧，你要小心，不要再見我的面！因為你見我面的那日你就必死！」

你們再聽見角、笛、琵琶、琴、瑟、笙，和各樣樂器的聲音，若俯伏敬拜我所造的像，卻還可以；若不敬拜，必立時扔在烈火的窰中，有何神能救你們脫離我手呢？」

你坐下，你出去，你進來，你向我發烈怒，我都知道。因你向我發烈怒，又因你狂傲的話達到我耳中，我就要用鈎子鈎上你的鼻子，把嚼環放在你口裏，使你從你來的路轉回去。

「你們對猶大王希西家如此說：『不要聽你所倚靠的神欺哄你，說耶路撒冷必不交在亞述王的手中。你總聽說亞述諸王向列國所行的，乃是盡行滅絕，難道你還能得救嗎？我列祖所毀滅的，就是歌散、哈蘭、利色，和屬提‧拉撒的伊甸人，這些國的神何曾拯救這些國呢？

仇敵說：我要追趕，我要追上；我要分擄物，我要在他們身上稱我的心願。我要拔出刀來，親手殺滅他們。

不要為明日自誇，因為一日要生何事，你尚且不能知道。

約押雖然沒有歸從押沙龍，卻歸從了亞多尼雅。他聽見這風聲，就逃到耶和華的帳幕，抓住祭壇的角。
